    [Misc] HP 815mfp

I don't know if I'm posting this in the right section, but...

I have an 815mfp that works with the original touch screen computer they were supplied with. It runs Windows 2000 Professional (32 bit). I sincerely appreciate the efforts of Kiran Otter, who provided both the disc images for that machine, and sold me the scanner calibration sheet (which I did not have).

I wanted to move off the OEM computer and run something with a newer operating system. Where I'm having my problem is with the driver for the scanner, which is firewire.

The software provided by Contex (Driver Download (WIDEsystem)) does not actually contain drivers for the scanner -- regardless of what version of software it is.

I moved the firewire card from the touch screen computer to another. The drivers installed correctly for the card, however, the problem I'm having is that I cannot find the appropriate driver for the scanner. The WIDEsystem driver package installs fine, but because it does not contain the driver for the scanner, it will not recognize it.

I've tried using the SPB2port.sys IEEE 1394 driver (XP, Vista 32 bit/64 bit, Windows 7 32bit/64bit) -- but the results are the same. It blue screens and completely s*it's itself. The driver for that is apparently corrupt across all versions. Contacting HP yielded no help. Contex said the Crystal Tx 40 driver works -- but it doesn't. I've tried this on multiple machines, while installing my own (legally owned) copies of XP, Vista and 7.

I've attached images to aid in the description of the problem. Any help would be sincerely appreciated...and I will actually pay (via PayPal), $100 to anyone who can provide me with the drivers to get this piece of dog s*it working. Drivers must be compatible with XP, Vista or 7. I haven't experimented with any newer versions of Windows, nor do I care to. I've ripped my hair out over this and consumed vast quantities of beer as a result.

The SBP2port.sys driver does not work. It crashes 100% of the time. I've managed, by some random event, to get this to work with an old hard drive that contained Windows Vista...but would like the ability to use this on a new installation...

I've seen Kirans post and obviously been very helpful to you. I've worked on these. It's now an old piece of kit. It comes with windows 2000.
If context don't have a newer driver to run it on a newer operating system your at a dead end.

Kiran has been massively helpful. I wouldn't be this far ahead without his help -- but like he said in an e-mail this morning, "You're in uncharted territory!"

What puzzles me is that the generic SBP2 driver worked (one time). I tried a new installation while searching that drive for drivers...didn't work. I copied the SBP2.inf and SBP2port.sys from that drive and substituted them on the new one (changed permissions on the file repository to be able to do so)...didn't work. All that did was cause Windows to repair itself.

I'm going to try searching the drive that came with the scanner's PC and see if I can find something...otherwise I'm stuck with this old box hanging off the side of the scanner frame.
