lexmark MX711DE scan light does not come on

I am being asked to subcontract a service call on this machine. I don't really know much about this unit.
The history is, when it was new the scanner bed was replaced because the scan light would not come on and it is doing it again. My question is, has anyone seen this issue? What could be causing the scan light to burn out.

After you've replaced the whole scanner assembly update the firmware to latest addition.

Is the MFP plugged into a surge suppressor unit or direct into the wall?
