What happens at IU/fuser end of life?

We're a fairly new BSD Lexmark dealer and I'm just wondering if anyone knows what happens on XM3250, XM7355, XC4140, etc. machines when the image unit, fuser, transfer belt, etc. reaches end of life? I understand the alert settings on the web portal and have set the machines to "Warning" and defined the percentage that will generate the warning. But when the supply gets to 0% does the machine force stop or does it continue to work until the item is replaced? Thanks for any insight you can offer!
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?
