[Misc] Huge Problem w/ Lexmark Photoconductors (MX711)

We have about 80 Lexmark MX711 distributed among our clients, and at random periods white streaks are appearing on the photoconductor intermediate unit roller and consequently in print, we've tried using original and third-party supplies from several vendors, updating/downgrading the firmware, cleaning the toner density sensor, but the streaks are still there.

Would anyone have a solution? this problem is worrying us a lot.

Introduced in 2011, the MX711 is a 66 cpm discontinued A4 monochrome MFP that is likely no longer supported by Lexmark so you are only looking at more pain going forward.

Time to think about upgrading these clients over time to a current model with probably a lower Total Cost of Ownership. I doubt if all of these locations need the fast speed and the features/ spec of the MX711 are not that great compared to a current model.

The problem is Lexmark has not much inventory for awhile.

I would suggest the Toshiba e478s at 50 cpm using the same Lexmark print driver.

We have another 300 printers, of other models (X654, X644, X464) for less demanding clients, the MX711 is already with our most demanding clients.

We're thinking about updating, but we can't do that for now.

Thanks for the suggestion, we have a very different market from the North American one, so let's study the options we have.

My experience with Lexmark (well not really but KM bizhub 4050 which is 100% Lexmark rebadge) is their cra.p image units don't last stated life(60k) in many cases. Cleaning development roller doctor blade sometimes helps but good thing is those image units aren't expensive dunno your model but white lines looking exactly the same.

        Good luck

Toshiba America is a distributor for Lexmark OEM and relabeled Toshiba/Lexmark product managed out of the USA.

This is the contact information for Toshiba's distributors in Brazil.

Lexmark has become very unreliable for inventory and parts due to COVID and logistic supply issues caused by COVID. In the long term, we have discovered that Lexmark's operational plan is to give away the print engine at low cost but charge a lot for accessories and parts. Also, consumables and parts often do not last their rated yield with little opportunity for dealer reimbursement.

Most Toshiba dealers carry both product lines.

The Toshiba e478s is equivalent to the Lexmark X464 several generations later.

The industry has also changed. OEMS are no longer chasing the lowest price because they cannot produce enough product nor transport it as economically as before COVID.

Most OEMS are now re-allocating the scarce components in their A4 product to build more profitable A3 product.

Lexmark is thought to have sacrificed building their lowest cost white label products to allocate enough parts to build their dealer only line which is more profitable and referred to as the BSD line in the USA.

Thanks for the tips and information!

We'll get in touch with Toshiba, and for now we'll look at ways to alleviate the issues we're having with Lexmark.
