In your opinion what is the over all best desktop color Lexmark previously made. I don't have a lot of experience with these and need a somewhat cheap desktop color for a customer. It has to be a Lexmark bty. Thanks for your help!

The XC4140 is a good machine although a bit large and heavy as a desktop. We do have many sitting on desks but they require a solid foundation because of their weight.
Be picky. The XC4140 could be as old as 2016. The XC4143 which is just now turning 3 years old are just now starting to come back from 3 years leases. If you buy something with very low volume, like less that 5K total you shouldn't need to do anything to it. If you have to install new toners it can double the price you paid for the machine. Off lease they are very reasonable. -

Some will go far beyond rated yield and some fail way too early. The fusrer problems we see are all premature failures and they are for the most part not repairbale becasue indivual parts for the fusers are not available.
The fusers themselves have no issues other than a random hard fail. They are easy to replace with two thumb screws. I would definately keep an extra on hand.
You will not see any toner fusing issues, rollers falling apart, pages wrinkling or anything like that.
As low priced as these are off lease I would be a scond for parts. Main boards and control panels cannot be swapped.
The only other issue we see with this model is the start/copy button microswitch comes off the pwb or falls apart. It is surface mounted and the entire control panel then needs to be replaced. In rare cases the keypad can be replaced to fix the issue. Instruct your end user NOT to use the copy/start button but rather use the one on the LCD screen.Comment

At 100K they made need some work. ADF rollers, image units, toners... The thing is you can buy one with 5k-20K for the same price as one with 100K.
They are difficult to come by that low but I have bought many.Comment

If you are looking at the same off lease list that I am you can also seacrh for the XC4150. Same machine 10 pages per minute faster and comes with a HDD.Comment

Off lease Toshiba e389cs and e479cs with low meter reads could be considered. Same as a Lexmark C4140/C4150 and can use a Lexmark original print driver.
We put them in car dealerships that must use Reynolds and Reynolds software that must use a Lexmark original print driver. No problems.
At 100k, I think you are walking into a headache so maybe buy an extra one for parts, partial toners, drums and fusers.
In Canada, we have the new e409CS which is an entry level Lexmark colour MFP with a dealer cost of $1,400.00.Comment
