    x642e error 900.90 RIP Software

    Hi,

I had a customer come up with this error on their IBM MFP first thing in the morning. It is used only as a fax and a copier, not a printer. They unplugged it and it works fine now.

I am a 10+ veteran of just about every type of Ricoh office machine, and some Canon, but Lexmark, I know almost nothing about.

Some searching for error 900 pointed to the RIP board, which is of course what the error message said. I poked around at ftp.lexmark.com, but couldn't find anything.

    1) Should I be worried the error might come back?

    2) Anyone have experience and/or information about this model and the error codes?

    msg me please, thanks...

Once they unplugged it from the wall and let it sit for a few minutes resets that code.I think it is a modem code and not a rip code.Could just be a false code that popped due to any number of things. No need to worry unless it comes back and wont go away.

If the 900.90 code will come back, replace the modem card, not the RIP board, because this code points to the modem board.
This means also that unplugging the network cable is not a solution for this problem.
I wouldn't worry to much about it, 900 codes quite often appear and disappear on this kind of Lexmark machines, thereby not saying it are bad machines, but they have their own kind of things.

I have had this error before
It relates to postscript error when ripping document
Try turning on postscript passthru on the print driver

Also check port type is it lexmark enhanced port or standard tcp/ip port
        Use enhanced port
