    T630/Dell M5200N

I have a copier customer that asked me to look at there Dell M5200N. It makes a thumping noise when printing envelopes. I found that the solenoid in the fusing unit is pulsing to adjust pressure. Is theis normal or should it stay on the entire time the envelope passes thru the fuser. Thanks

    Travi,

this is normal on this machines. It releases the pressure of the fuserroller a few times when the envelope is passing trough to let the air out of the envelopes.
I agree it is a "strange" sound when you hear it for the first time.

I've heard that it helps stop the envelope from creasing, as it passes through the fuser 'flatter' without any trapped air inside it.
