[Misc] x464: TWAIN scanning to computer via USB cable?

Does this machine support scanning via USB connection (NOT USB Pen drive)? Or is the USB cable connection for printing only?

    Cheers!

I know, but it's not very clear. Scan to USB can mean:

      - Scan to USB thumb drive on the front port
      - Scan to an USB-connected computer (via Twain).

So far I've noticed that there appears to be a driver for USB scanning on Windows, so it seems it should work. But I'm yet to see some solid confirmation on this (short of trying it myself, but I don't have a machine handy right now).

Yes, it is pretty vague. You could always call tech support or just bash your head into the wall several times. Seems to feel about the same.

Nevermind that. I convinced my boss to let me unpack a new machine just to test that out.

          Will give feedback soon.

Good machines but scan to USB is not great. Best way is to download the Scan to Network application and configure. works much better this way

It does indeed scan via USB cable to computer.

I agree that network scan is much better, but in the end it's not what we want, it's what the customer wants to do.

Granted. But some customers can be educated on better solutions, others insist that their way is the best.

Once again, I agree. But when selling an equipment, it's better when it does what the customer wants - no matter how useless or outdated - specially when the competition has a machine that does it.

                  - Here it is! Isn't it a beauty?
                  - Yes. Does your horse shit around the field?
                  - No sir! This is a new breed of horse genetically enhanced so you don't have to clean up the crap!
                  - Well I don't want it then. I'm going to buy it over there, they have one that does!

fortunatley for me I dont have to deal with the selling. but I do have to do what the saleman has promised the machine can do. sometimes I don't know whats worse customers difficult requirements or expectations of acheiving what they have been promised.
