Lexmark T654dn Slow printing

Customer has complained that recently the printer has started printing very slow at times. I confirmed this during the service call.
This is not a network issue as the printer will print very slow at times even when printing out configuration pages. It has a new fuser, fuser wiper assy and these had no effect on the issue. I had a LVPS so I installed it in just to check with no result. I do not have a system card pcb to try. Has anyone had this issue before and come up with a solution?

Not sure about this model some print slower when set to higher resolutions. For example if settings changed from 600 DPI to 1200. Try restoring to factory default.

I know this is old, but there was no resolution noted and I found the answer. So I am posting it in the interest of helping others with this problem.
