Did you go into service mode and clear the error after you swapped the fuser unit?

there is an SP mode you have to change to clear the fuser code... did you do that change? IF NOT... you will get the error code. The fusers do NOT have a reset fuse in them.

you aren't trying to use a fuser from a compatible PRINTER are you? I know the only diff on some fusers like that, is the jumper harness at the front of the fuser.

If you're installing a "Donor" fuser, check the thermistors. I've seen some throw SC 5XX codes just because they were caked with old toner. Clean them, reset the code again, and give it a test.

Brand new out of the box? Has your boss called Ricoh yet for out of box failure replacement under warranty?

do you have a working 2nd machine to test the "brand new one"?
did you meter the lamps and such?

Did you connected the small connectros on the right side at the back, near the power plug?

Did you enter the SP to move the gear of the pression roller to the position to attach the fuser?

                    Check this.
