[For Sale] sharp mx-3071 error u2-42 - parts to fix or sell unit

Hello all,

We have a Sharp MX-3071 that has a U2-42 error which is either a HDD error or the MFPC PWB board. We would either like to get hold of the spare parts or sell the unit as it is, for spares and repair.

You can try replacing the HDD for about $17 and then if you still have the U2 replace the eMMC for $25. If you don't have a clean image to burn to the eMMC you will need one or buy a new one already programmed from a Sharp dealer which will run about $125+.

Is there a way to reset the password? When we boot with the PCB switch down we just get a choice of menu, up, down, ok and back. How can we enter the 24,30 password reset functions here?

The switches no longer work on the newer models
best way is to use a back up from another machine and import it to your machine Sim 56-02 (1 that Has the password set to default)

Yes I see, the 30 option under 24 for reset password is gone now. There are just counter reset options.

OK so just to update, after removing the eMMC and cleaning out everything and with a new HDD I used the option in SIM16 to clear the U errors and now it is fine.
We are still stuck without the password though as Sharp are yet to send us an unlock code. Does anyone have any other ideas how we might be able to get into this printer?

Taken from another thread

"Go to another machine (model doesn't matter). Go to Storage backup. Choose UserRegisterInformation. Create backup. Go to the MX-3071, type IP address. Go to (IP address /service_login.HTML), Password is service. Go to device Cloning. Send the backup you made to the machine and the password will be reset."

I have done this and it works.

This can also be done at the machine sim 56 export data to usb then at the machine you need to unlock sim 56 import data from usb
you are best using a similar model to copy from

Thanks for that - does anyone have a USB that they could convert to ISO that we could download? Our model is an MX-3071 so anything close to that with the default set-up & password would be great.
