I don't have any spare network cards for this copier. Does the copier you wish to install it in already have a network card that is no longer working. If yes you just need a new NIC. Unscrew the old one take it out and put the new one in and screw it in. It should work. You may get an error if the firmware on your copier is old and you insert a new style NIC. If so, upgrade firmware using SST to latest version.

If not, you need a N Boot Rom as well. You can pick up network kits for the IR2200 from $100USD including postage on ebay.

Replace C Boot Rom with N Boot Rom in network kit and upgrade copier's firmware to N version using SST. Then insert NIC.

Installation instructions are in Network Multi-PDL Printer Kit-C1 Service Manual. Bear in Mind that this was written in 2001 so some of the instructions may be a little old. Instructions for where to install parts are there.

A recent SST manual is probably the guide to use for loading firmware on using the SST. You will need to get a Nethawk cable (special canon to usb parallel cable and the only one that works with SST) or use a computer with a parallel port (set to use ECP mode) and a IEEE1284 aka bi-centronics parallel cable. This kind of parallel cable was commonly used with scanners (bi-directional communication is clearly required for that kind of device). Unfortunately this copier does not have Fixed IP so a crossover cable is not an option.

Depending where you get it the printer kit may come with a CD with SST (Service Support Tool) and firmware to load onto copier.

Print drivers to install on the client computers (or on the server and share printer) are available from the Canon website. The Canon Network ScanGear Tool for pull scanning (which your client may also be interested in) is also available there.

See Canon U.S.A., Inc. Drivers & Downloads Device Management Software to get ScanGear Tool (don't get colour version as it won't work with 2200)

See Canon U.S.A: Support for the print drivers. If using PCL drivers use PCL5e.

You're welcome. It's well worth networking the copier. If people already have other printers in their office (and even if they don't) these days scanning can be a bigger benefit of networking the copier. So I mentioned it as well as the print drivers. I forgot to mention that scanning only works on Windows with this copier as there is no ScanGear Tool for mac unfortunately.
