so we know how to make the bizhubs to work without a reset but in many cases a chip reset will mor convenient.
For the bizhub c350 and 450 we can reset chip but for the rest o the bizhubs i don't think that you can reset the original chip.Comment

Hello everybody,
I have also DSQ8 chips, which are locked. They are for Minolta 2400/2500 cartridges. Here many manifacturers of resetters are selling their products who in fact work, but only with non protected minolta's chips. I have 4 different types of chips now, and some can be fully reprogrammed, other just partially, and some cannot be reprogrammed.
For those who want to buy a resetter - firstly - inform yourself what type is your chip, read the chip - there is a free software for reading.
For DSQ8 look at the addresses 80h to 87h - if there is a combination:
55 AA 00 00 55 A5 00 00
this means page0 - write-protected(WP), address 80h - WP, Page1 - EPROM mode (WP), address 81h - WP, Page2 - not WP, page3 - not WP,
copy ROM - protectedq addres 84h - WP
Look at the Dallas datasheet - there is clearly said - once bits from 80h to 84h set to 55 or AA, these addresses became read-only - no further modifying possible - this means no resetter in the world can change page0 for example, because it's one time programmable only.
Some are saying that after reading a post the went to the office, and resetted a dozen chips, and put the to the machines in the office and all is perfect.
Here is the explanation for this: page0 and page1 are one and the same - they NEVER again can be reprogrammed, the counters in page2 and page3 are reset, and this is enough for the Minolta 2400/2500 to show full cartridge. If the cartridge went empty, and you reset it, then put back in the same machine - it won't work, because the page0 is the same. But if you place it in the neighbouring office, it'll work as a new one, because the machine is different, and didn't remember the chip's serial.
Soooo, there is a moment for which all the resetter manifacturers are keeping silence, claiming their resetter is the "Greatest" ever.
DS2432 chips usually are unlocked, and you can do everything with them, Some DSQ8 can be half reprogrammed and used on other machines (not form these they are taken from). If the chip processing unit is PIC16F684 - this is emulator - there is a software program in it which emulates 1-wire protocol and memory space. 16F684 can also be protected in such way that you cannot steal the emulation software, and to produce emulator by yourself.
Some of the manifacturers claim their resetters can reset these emulators too, but i've not tested it and can say nothing about it.
Now I'm waiting for any of the resetter manifacturers to say that i'm wrong, and their resetter can do the impossible - let's see who will be the firstComment

I have been resetting chips for over 2 years now, I have reset chips from IU units and toner units to be IU unit chips, I have reset the chips from Magic Color to be C250/C252 image unit chips. I have not had any problems. Obviously you can See more into whats going on inside these chips than me. But I really don't care if it is a full reset a partial reset or something in between. The fact is when this reseter is used properly, it produces a usable chip that works (resets the life counter and allows you to continue using the IU ). I would be more than happy to send you a chip that I have reset, and you can look at it and test it to see that it does indeed work. Email me info@iuresets.comOnline Store is closed. Chip resetting is a thing of the past! Thank you to all my past customers.

Yes you're completely right the chip is working and all the counters are reset.
BUT you cannot change the serial of the chip and its capacity, and maybe the color, all the info stored in page0. If you put this resetted chip into the same printer you've taken it from - it'll say toner empty.
And if you put this same chip into another machine it will work like completely new OEM chip. So if you have many customers and many chips, nothing to worry about, isn't that right?
For all curious people for resetting DS2432, DS2431(DSQ8) you need :
1.one PC with 1 COM port and windows XP
2.one hardware resetter device to convert COM port levels to 5V levels, this is done with 74LS05 and several resistors and diods.
3.reset software at a price around 100 USD , and even cheaper
Some people want 500 USD for their resetters, some want 800 USD, and some 1000 EUR - no comment. Talking about new techlologies etc., 1-wire protocol is one and the same, chips are one and the same too - where is the new technology??? Maybe in the different looking resetter boxes lolComment

I am not talking about reseting toner chips, I am talking about resetting chips to be Image unit chips. When used properly. This works without issues! And yes this means not putting the same chip in the same machine repeatedly. This has been covered before? What is it your trying to say?Online Store is closed. Chip resetting is a thing of the past! Thank you to all my past customers.

kesserling was your question directed at me? If so the answer is this I believe Bizhub ( chip-life ) makes one of the best C250 type chip programmers available. for this reason I am marketing it in North America along with my own C350/C450 type programmer which I also believe to be one of the finest available.Online Store is closed.
