Looking for a doc feeder for a mf8170c, mine is sticking causes the print to look stretched out in places. Found staples inside wondering should i just replace the whole thing? Re-furb?
Thanks!
I have removed all the staples, think it may have broken some teeth, maybe why she skips and grabs the paper? Machine was still in use could not get into it all!
hmmm... I wouldn't suggest just going out and buying a whole new Doc Feeder. However, you do have at least a few options if you are shopping the junk/ebay market. The following fax machines use a very similar Doc Feeder.
Canon ImageClass D340
Canon ImageClass MF5530
Canon ImageClass MF5550
Canon ImageClass MF5730
Canon ImageClass MF5750
Canon ImageClass MF5770
Canon ImageClass MF8180C
Canon Laser Class 510
You may be able to pick up a junker one of these and swap parts from it. Do not think any will be an exact match to just swap the unit. Hope this helps. Otherwise, my advice would be to check all Rollers and Pads, if they are worn at all, even if the unit only has 10k-20k, you may want to start there. Or there is a far chance that it is a motor. These units may not be smart enough to throw error codes. Here are some part numbers if you need them:

Found that the belt that drives the Mtr. assy was bad, but could not find just the belt.
Canon had the assy the cheapest I could find for under 20.00!
Thanks to all!!
