    C 284 duplex paper jam

    Hi all.

In one of my clients machine c 284 paper jam occurs when a duplex printing is used. It is observed that the duplex printing takes place successfully without any jaming for sometime and another job is given then the jam take place. I have checked paper path it is clean and also replace the rollers. And it is also observed that when duplex printing is given, at the time of the second side printing the paper exits from the exit rolle's not the duplex seconds printing rollers

    See this thread.

This is a pretty common issue. When I experience it, adding a piece of mylar to reduce the travel distance for the solenoid almost always fixes this issue.

    Good luck.

Had this issue on a 224e. When duplexing paper would simply exit out the normal side instead of going out the top and back into cycle, and this would throw up a jam code. The mylar fix didn't work. Replacing the entire exit unit resolved it for a while, then the problem came back.

ive noticed on the left side of the comb gate above the fuser there is a small black foam pad that silences the gate when it engages, it swells with time and becomes tacky.
i just remove the small pad and now it moves freely with a little extra click noise. no more duplex jams.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
          The medication helps though...
