Default from email is the administrator/keyop address.

    Press copy function.
    Press help key
press key operator mode (lower left corner, only works when machine is idle.)
input key op code if any.
Press Key Ope Data on touch screen
The press key ope data again to select and change name, for assistance and
    email address.

    Hope this helps!
    Regards!

When I set the email scanning up I do 3 main things:

1.SMTP settings ( IP adress or name of SMTP server )
Check if is SMTP authentification ON, get it from IT guys name and
      password

2.I put there name and email adress of the machine( if you dont' have the right email adress just enter whatever@whatever.com )

3.I put there name and email of administrator

      Then it should work fine.

The 7228 series doesn't do smtp authentication so that won't work. You'd require an open outbound smtp server or relay off of a workstation of some sort (it can be done with win xp pro but I don't recall how).

        Regards!

In most cases for scan to email to function properly you must have the following correct.

          SMTP server address
Valid from address ( most servers now require this as spam prevention )
default gateway ( always required if scanning thru ISP )
DNS ( always required if scanning thru ISP )

Note: Scan to email thru an ISP will never work if the customer does not have a router, requires an Internet log on, or they are using dial up.

If they are using a domain controller, the copier may be required to be part of that domain.

If they require Authentication, ( this you must know ahead of time or your just wasting your time trying ) and your machine does not support SMTP Authentication, you can some times get around this by setting the POP Authentication and then setting to POP Before SMTP.

If the customer has their own in house mail server, save yourself a lot of time and headaches buy asking for IT support before you start.
