Cleaning unit for fixer on konica 8050

I am getting a message on panel that says Exchange Cleaning Unit for fixer. I looked it up in the manual. It does not look difficult to exchange, call service. It normally takes at least 4 days to get a service rep for a minimum for $ 200, and then they order parts and come back in a couple of days. Since the machine is telling me what is wrong, can I order the part and call service or replace myself. What is involved and how difficult is it.

It's very simple to change out. JUST BE SURE TO ZERO OUT THE COUNTER!!!!
Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.

Thanks for the info. After it got a couple of plastic plates jammed and warped, I pulled the the cleaning unit out. It looks like it has only a month left of material on the roll. I zeroed out the counter and ordered a new unit for less than a service call. I do not mind calling service, but this was to simple.

I don't know if anyone else does this, I run all of the machines I take care of without the web assy. I've been doing it for a long time and it works great. I have not seen any negative effects.

One thing I always do is put a little oil on the brake. I find that they lock up about half way threw there life.
