    C253 not starting.

    Hi Engineers.
    I request for your Help to solve a problem with a Bizhub C253
    1st the client reported that her outlet developed a problem and a tech fixed it.
    on fixing it the the machine couldn't boot fully(the start key lights red and the power led lights blues for approximately 1sec then the machine dies out.)
    I checked the Power Supply Board; its fine, I replaced the board with another working one and the machine is still doing the same thing.
    also replaced a PCRB board and the machine is still doing the same thing.
    I'm stuck and need some new tricks with this.

      Do you get any response from the machine at all? Fans, motors etc? If not it would have to be power supply related. Did you use a meter and start tracaing your voltage? If the outlet was bad, a surge could have taken out pretty much anything.

          NEVER take a customers word that a power issue has been fixed unless you have talked to and watched the electrician fix it!!
          Check the wall voltages. Then while the meters is plugged in turn machine on and see how low it drops. This is either the issue or the machine has pwb issues. I had a location that the electrician and the customer said the wall outlet was on its own breaker. The specialist that was with me ( I gave up and made him come to take care of the issue), then proceeded to take a paper clip and trip the breaker. IT came running to see what was wrong in the server room (other side of the wall). Turned out the electrician jumped the copier onto the circuit with the server!!
          And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

                  The bizhub C253 User Manual and Field Service Manual differ in the power requirements. The correct power requirement is the one listed in the Field Service Manual which states 12A.

                      The maximum power consumption for the bizhub C253 is 1500W or less.

                          Disconnect the HDD, If machine powers up correctly, replace the HDD

                              Thank you so much for your responses. Finally after a very long struggle I was able to isoltate that the 1st woes of this machine were from the machines panel seems to have been pretty beat up during the surge. On changing the panel, the machine allowed to boot fully though the scanner and tray1,2 and bypass were all offline. Soon after it could started booting partially; I upgraded firmware and it still can't booted fully. Also the scanner is not activating even when all the power to the scanner it at appropriate voltages. Thanks again for your time

                                  Out of curiosity, is the wall outlet the correct polarity? Use a polarity check device to verify the outlet hot wire is not mixed with the cold wire.

                                  It might be an option that is holding you back. Disconnect all external peripherals....the finisher, large capacity tray (tray 3 or tray3/4), doc feeder and fax kit. The latter will have to be disabled in tech rep if you can get in there. Also disconnect the hard drive for the moment...and like the fax, disable that if possible.

                                  It is also entirely possible that your PSU could be fried. You will need to verify that you have the appropriate voltages throughout.

                                      The machine is connected to a different and good power outlet and is still not powering fully, doesn't reach the Konica Minolta Logo. The fans FM7,6,2&4 run then the rest go off except FM6.

                                          I have experienced weird things with these machines and at the end it was only one of the two RAMs on the MFPB the cause. Could you try to exchange them or switch them? Otherwise you have to try an other MFPB or a NVRAM. Did you change/do anything until now on the back side of the machine where the MFPB is?
