    an interesting fault, C550

Had an interesting fault recently on a C550 whereby the finisher would magically disappear about half way through the day, every day. Resulting in constant jams at the RU unit that the machine assumed was no longer there as it wasn't even turning. Finisher reappeared after a restart from the main power switch.

What I also noticed was a plethora of black drum motor rotation errors, but did not correlate with finisher disappearance 100% of the time. The customer had simply been opening and closing the front door to reset it and never said anything about it.

Turns out this machine was calling the error code from a cold start AND when exiting from power save mode. COLD start indicates failing power supply, SLEEP indicates replace PRCB and drum motor.

I did all 3 and touch wood its been an entire week without a call back.

    Hey, that's a good one! =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        The finisher was an FS-608.

Yet another day has gone by without a call back, starting to feel confident
