    C6500 Fuser breaking gears

    Afternoon everyone,

TGIF! I'm having an issue with a fusing unit for a c6500, its breaking teeth off of Fixing Drive Gear /F 20/28T A03U808600.

I've replaced the gear below it Fixing Drive Gear /B 28T A03U808201 it had a lot of play on its shaft thinking that would fix it but its still breaking teeth off of the white gear.

I just noticed when the fusing rollers are under pressure the space between the gears increases, I'm guess that's breaking the teeth.

Just FYI, the 3 one way bearings have been replaced, Fixing Driving Gear /M 22T A03U809311, but not by me.

Has anyone seen this before or know what might be causing it? Thanks in advance.

      Hi,
Bizhub one is spot on with his advice.
The one way gear will be on backwards. Causing the roller to lock when it is trying to drive.

And we have all done that, at least once in our lives. Haven't we!

You got it! It was on backwards.

Another one of those things you can't find in the manual, just have to experience it.
Thank you! I appreciate your help!

Makes sense and explains why it only broke under pressure.

I did this on my first ever Solo PM on a 6500, ever since then I've carried that gear as a spare, just in case.

I haven't done it since, but I've followed behind a few engineers who have!

                  Needed this laugh...

i would think after 1 gear, you would hand turn the motor, both ways. but maybe that's just me - funny in a not so funny way.

I have had gremlin's in a machine that we just trashed after putting a few hundred into it...
