    c284e scans with vertical line on edge page

    I have a c284e that has been getting a vertical line on the very edge of scanned documents. We have adjusted the adf for skew and also did the electronic adjustments. Originally it had crooked scans with the line. After the adjistment the scans are straight but the line is still there.

    Internal prints and copies off of the glass are fine. Copies you cant even tell. The lines show up on scan to email or folder documents mainly.

    Any ideas? This one is kicking my butt.

          Check the plates that hinges of the DF get screwed in to. If they are loose the back of DF will stick up when its down and too much light will get through. But example would help a lot.

              Have you cleaned the glass and mirrors?

                  Are you seeing the edge of the original? What about voids? Do you have at least a 2mm front and rear voids? You should have no trouble getting the original image placed, so that the voids mask out any edges of the original.

                  Or is the original floating above the glass, clinging to the matt? The DF height may be incorrectly set. =^..^=
                  If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                  5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                      Here is a sample of the vertical line. It's not the best since its an A4 original, but its the only one I have at the momement. It does it with any orignal and only happens when scanning from the ADF. The glass is fine.

                          is that the ADF magnification setting. Happened on the BH223 series. Turn original to landscape and test it.

                              I have been seeing this more and more on the newest machines I've put together. Always the DF-701. It takes a lot of fine tuning to get rid of it completely. Before you bother with the calibration sheet you need to manually work those hinges. Both elevation and skew. Not sure why the latest batch is so finiky. Just adjust the skew first then work on the elevation, that seems to be the fastest way to straighten it out. Then use the calibration sheet last. Good Luck!

                                  I fold 2 pieces of paper twice over(4 layers) and then insert one at the rear side of the slid glass and one in front on then adjust the ADF until the tension is firm but not tight and even on both sides.You feel this by pulling the strips out slowly. It takes the guess work out of it.
