Clocking in and out on the road

    Hello.
My corporate HR just implemented clocking in and out of work, specifically so they can show that we took a proper lunch break, but this also means clocking in at the beginning of the work day (8:00) and the end of the work day (5:00). We are using the ADP app. Is anyone else having to do this, and how are you making it happen? In my particular case, I may leave my last call at 4:40, then spend over an hour on the highway getting home, with no way to clock out at 5:00. Thoughts and comments?

Our management was pushing for it, but somehow, somebody pointed out that its just impractical for field techs to stop what their doing at exactly 0800 or 1700 to clock in and out. And with the vagaries of phone service and internet connections, for some geographic areas it was just impossible. Hopefully you'll be successful in explaining that. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

It's not too bad if you can punch in and out by calling a number from your cell phone.

You can usually program the speed dial with the appropriate pauses to automate it.

If your car has Bluetooth, you can make the call completely hands-free and never even need to pick up your phone.

...pander to this new system as best as you can (meaning go through the motions) and ignore it. Skilled copiers techs are in short supply. You can always find a job somewhere else.

For accounting purposes my company required me to fax or email the completed and signed work order at the end of each service. An additional sheet could be added if I was going on break.
