    Canon IR1600 - E100 error

    Hi,

I was out at a customer to fix some problems with dirty copies at the side of the paper. I removed the drum unit and then I reinstalled the drum and tried to make a testcopy. Got the errorcode E100 after a couple of seconds. Anyone got a clue what it means?

your dirty copies on the side of the paper is coming from the drum itself.. you're just unfortunate that an error code came up... e100 is drum error.. just replace the drum with new and dont hocus-focus your machine everything will be ok......
      Just came out from hybernation.....

There is a sensor tab on the drum unit that is probably broken off which will cause the E-100, I have seen this many times when customers attempt to remove the drum unit poking around in the machine.

I have got out of trouble on a 1600 that had a good drum in it still, that customer broke off tab. Used a paper clip and was able to wrap around that did not interfere and engaged shutter. Just had to instruct them never to remove drum from machine. However, always educate your customers on this model to never remove drum anyway. There is no reason to, explain that paper runs in front of drum and can not get behind it.

Hi fren, have you settle the problem, this is very common problem which faced on the field, pls check the tab at the left top side of the drum unit, is to actuate the laser shutter, another problem it could be due to the developer unit left side metal plate a bit bend, just bend back is working perfect.
