Browser based PDF's are about to get a little better

Microsoft and Adobe have an agreement in place to replace the PDF renderer in Edge with Acrobat.

    Just a moment...

Looks like things are getting a little better for anyone without a dedicated PDF application on their PC.

Don't know why, but the once very good Foxit Reader became in the latest versions extremely slow in opening PDF's. It became worthless when one has to dig through several PDF's. Opening of a file takes about 10 seconds, which makes the Foxit Reader totally useless for me.

And the Adobe bloathware I hated from the beginning.......

Acrobat with some tweaks (mainly through group policy) still make it a good choice. I have a few clients using custom certificate based signatures and everything other than Acrobat makes them almost impossible to use.

They also all but created the PDF and tie into a lot of other workflows and other business apps so I've stayed with it.

I found that using browser based PDF applications does not work with wide format documents (Arch D or larger). The document either spends forever loading (timeclock spinning), or every function like enlarging/reducing/browsing takes 15min or more to completely redraw the document painfully pixel by pixel. Installing ANY locally loaded PDF reader (specifically FoxIt) is a huge improvement.

I've had problems with specific versions of Adobe, but they've always been solved by updates. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I have also run into problems printing to wide format and the best PDF app I have found for them is PDF-XChange. It usually solves the problem.

Not in years. I haven't had access real issue with PDF rendering since there's been a PDF writer in every major OS for years now.

There's also been plenty of security vulnerabilities found in it that it made more sense to remove it from client machines than to keep a vulnerable app out there to keep patching, especially when doing so seemed to break some bespoke apps that could just as easily be redirected to the native PDF tools.

Can't say as I've noticed this at all. My docs open pretty much instantly.
Foxit reader has been my go to for over a decade.
I only have basic needs, so I'm not speaking about any specific functionality, although I do add a lot of text boxes to my documents and find it excellent for that.
