    What do you use for job hunting

    We have been looking for Technicians and have postings out there but are getting zero resumes in...

    What places are you guys using to post and/or search for jobs?

    Zip Recuiter = nothing
    Linkedin = nothing
    local workforce development office (employment office) = nothing

        Maybe post your open workjobs on here?
        Would come to my mind first as a tech looking for work.

        I am currently living in Germany but would like to go over "the big pond" if i find a good workplace there

          I have a few friends who have used Send a Job to 100+ Job Boards Free with 1-Click successfully. Supposedly they got a few good technician candidates & the site is not overpriced for a 3 month subscrip. May be worth a try. Best of luck.

              We offer apprenticeships and train our own techs. Most guys come straight from school - unfortunately the numbers of applications went down to almost zero, as for an example we got none this and last year but we got lucky the years before and over ~5years we "raised" 4 techs so we are covered pretty OK. The upside is that you have a chance to shape your own employees - If you hire somebody with a "history" it's always like playing the lottery. It's hard to meet up the expectation of most applicants nowadays, especially if your own value model is more kind of "old school" while everybody elso is talking about flexible working times, homeoffice, swimming with dolphins......

              All in all I think you should try and either recruit straight from school and make yourself better visible there...or find some tech who worked with "related" stuff (like TV/cable) so you can provide some trainings and - probably - patience until he's fit for our business.

                Yeah, we have tried...I think just about everyone is in the same boat.
                The REAL issue is that people with zero experience with anything want way too much money, we spend enormous amounts of time and energy trying to teach someone fresh and they quit only a couple of months into the job.
                It takes several YEARS for someone fresh to become fully proficient; but they all want pie in the sky, instant gratification, zero effort and only want a paycheck long enough to get their Youtube or Twitch channel up and running.

                  Yeah I know what you mean and I agree that you can't hand out a big paycheck to somebody who is new and therefore not able to work efficient enough. Most freshmans generates a lot of follow-up visits and tend to use more $$ for parts/consumables because they lack of skills and analytic thinking to prepare themself properly - kind of the same happens with some of the "old guard" - I'm kind of happy that ours have retired over the last years. We actually give our techs some guidance since I can monitor all open calls and add my comments to the ticket what I expect them to do or hw to prepare - of course I can't and won't perform this for every single call and sometimes my hints might be wrong but I take a close look what happens in the field and that actually helps a lot to reduce the labour times and follow ups.

                    Me personally, even though i am quite new to the job with 2.5 years of real experience in the copier game, i often over prepare for customers problems which has come to an point where it is an issue for my company. I often spend more time in the workshop collecting information and gathering all kinds of replacement parts so i'll usually be at the customer site for half the time i spend on preparing.

                      Depending on the complexity I think it's worth spending some time preparing but that shouldn't take too long for the "common" models we have to service. Things might be more time consuming if you do production printing or wicked call descriptions.

                        That's why I'm fan of territory management where I can know in deep details every machine amidst territory/region. Of course there are some disadvantages and surprises are not excluded but in general very little additional preparations are needed.

                          there are many expert in the field who will find a job technical employee which will fulfil your need if you are finding too specific person in this field
