M479 Fuser issue. Printer shuts off after installing another fuser and now original

    Hello,
Recently I needed to swap a fuser and also fix ADF issue on a HP M479 printer. The ADF makes a grinding noise, so I'm thinking that's the whole assembly on time . By Assembly I mean the black section with the motor. I swap the rollers the whole top section with rollers. Top section is the top rollers and the hole plastic part that lifts up. Still had the issues(also cleaned the rollers. I moved on to the fuser from there and will circle back on this, but I will need to work on this if I can get the fuser par t fixed. The fuser was making a horrible wining noise, so I thought we could swap it with a M477 fuser. We have 2 units. I pulled the older fuser out of the M479 and put in the M477 fuser into the machine. I noticed after the fact that while testing that M477 fuser has a bad pink roller. Toner spilled and the plastic on the roller ripped. I figured i could at least test the fuser and make sure the sound was gone just to verify it was the fuser making the noise. Sadly once I turned on the M479 after putting in the M477 fuser. it powered on then I heard a a high speed fan and maybe gears moving and the machine shut down immediately, so I unplugged the power removed and reconnected the cables(double checked them also. They all looked correct and plugged in. Powered it back on(had to wait a while because it wouldn't power on right away. Almost light it tripped something. Still same issue but I also noticed the large fuser gear barely turned. Seemed like maybe once the motor/gear couldn't turn the fuser it should off? I pulled the M477 fuser out of the M479 and I turned the machine and it gave me a error message and couldn't continue( I think the error was something about shut the machine down and try again. I plugged the fuser back in(after powered in the machine off(pulled the power cord after that), but this time I didn't push the fuser in all the way. Just wanted to see if it would shut down still or maybe it would reset itself(I wasn't sure if there is a time issue with the gears like the Xerox Phaser(which are a pain) Then I got a 50.0.7 error which If I recall correctly pointed to the fuser. I thought Ok I will push the fuser in the machine now(after shutting down then pulling the plug). Same original error and it shut down. Fuser gear was still hard to turn. No I figured lets try the original fuser and see. Keep in mind that M479 fuser worked fine no issues like this in the original machine and the large gear moved freely. Putting in the original fuser(m479) which the gear moved freely on gave me the same results and the large gear was hard to move after that, so I did all the same testing with that fuser and had the same issues and results. I fixed the M477 fuser so the gears lined up and not you can turn the large gear on the M477 fuser freely. I didn't reinsert it to that machine. Im kinda stuck at this point. I could try that fuser again, but not sure why it keeps having the same issue. Is there some timing that got goofed up when I pulled the original fuser out and put in the M477 fuser? I never ran into anything like this on past machines. 8000, 8100, 8150, P2050, 4000, 4100, 4050 and a few others I don't recall. I never saw any notes about this machine and pulling the older fuser and replacing it in the service manual, or and videos from techs. Thank you in advance for any help to get this solved. It was rather frustrating so far and I have 2 machines not apart just taking up a lot of room. I might add I have 1 more M477 machine I could pull a fuser out and put in this machine(which I think I may have to do since this M477 fuser roller is bad , but until I get this issue solved I don't see the point of doing that. Thank you,

Some fusers engage and disengage the fuser rollers, they won't turn easily by hand when engaged. Try releasing the fuser rollers and installing unit.
