c7000 restart timing / centering adjustment

i am getting horrible duplexing on one of the external trays.
printing from the machine built in trays is fine, printing from the printer external tray trays 4 and 5 are horrible.

    the duplexing randomly drifts 5mm

i suspect it has something to do with the reset timing or centering adjustment. After printing the chart how do you interpret it ?

That paper feed unit probably isn't properly aligned with the main body of the machine.

You must change dipsw 26-4 to ON.This disables the sensor (Printer auto centering correction (LU/PF)). Perform centering adjustments and make jobs.

If you observe a positive result, you must replace this sensor.

Random offsets are usually caused by this sensor reading the edge of the paper incorrectly.

Make sure the PFU is properly attached to the brackets of the main body (rear connects via alignment pin and the front screws to the bracket). From there, as Tulintron mentioned, turn off auto centering. In service mode, set the centering to 0 for the tray you are trying to dial in and run the centering adjustment page. If it's way off, loosen the screw in the center of the tray and you can slide the guides front to rear (see photo). Repeat until you get it as close as possible. I try to get it as close to center mechanically as I can. From there, use the centering adjustment in service mode to fine tune it. You must do it for each tray and again for the duplexer. Once done, turn auto centering back on.

Yes, Remove all the paper and look in the center of the tray towards the feeding edge.

Using Pf602 feeder, printing from trays are okay

I see this part is for c6500 but it did not say it is for c7000 or c6000

Is there an equivalent for c7000?
