    PF703 C2070

Getting too much skew out of the PF trays.

100# cover runs straight from tray 2.... but not tray 4 or 5.

cleaned everything, the pre-registration roller in the PF unit looks ok...

I have a spare 703, but wondering if anyone has seen this before...

    Re: PF703 C2070

I believe it's a PF-707 on the C2070, but regardless, on the air-feed decks, for skew check:

    *improperly set tray guides
*dirty or misaligned pickup belts (clean the inside and outside of all three belts). Sometimes the belts just get misaligned during jam removal.
*check for cracks in the pickup belts that catch, and stop a single belt from spinning. The belts can also stretch & slip. Replace three belts as a set.
*check for uneven lift of the lift plate (possible damage to cables & pulleys .... it's usually catastrophic damage).
*if your enduser is running NCR, you'll be cleaning and replacing belts much more frequently. At 800K prints we replaced ALL the rubber rollers in the airfeed deck, due to swelling of the rubber.

The belts are rated for 2M, but will not survive that long on heavy or textured media, NCR, or coated stock.

One thing that just occurred to me:
If you're getting what my enduser called: "the giant farting sound ..." it's caused by paper dust buildup in the suction fans. I replaced a few fans, until I discovered that it's just that the squirrel cage is out of balance. Carefully blast out all the paper dust, and it won't fart for a while. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
