    Mp2501, Overtoner after toner replacement

    Hello

We have a few (20) Mp2501 around, and some of them (different locations, different customers) goes in Overtoner after toner replacement.. Toner is OEM, many machines have new developer and/or new pcu, charge roller, transfer roller and blade.
"Toner near end" is set to 20 sheets instead of 50 sheets.

Do someone have the same problem with this boxes from hell???.

we still have loads of these pieces of crap where im currently based and been having this issue since beginning of Covid. the info we received was that the composition/formula for the toner had to be changed and some SP's to adjust

      what I've been doing is

      1. change the SP's
      SP2201-02: H
      SP2201-03: -400V
      SP2922-01: 0.3sec
      SP2923-01: 25sec
      SP2929-01: 3.0
      SP2996-01: On

      2. run skyshots/internal test prints till desired density is reached with toner removed

      3. strip and clean drum unit (especially toner recycle)

      4. Initialise developer

      5. replace toner and print full SMC

      6. if it didnt help, order new developer (may find machine stopped doing it and running fine when you return with developer)

if it did help good job (may get a callback that its doing it again within a day or 2 and now you have to clean everything including the laser when you bring the new developer)

and be prepared to do this again with next toner change which makes me question the "formula changed" claim but thats a completely different rant that deserves its own thread

Stupid question - are you using the D158 dev?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          Hit it.

I have had dozens of them with Background issue.

Increase the DV Bias to -650 .

In few cases new OEM drum caused the background.( Drum replaced )

For low copy quality i have also used polygon motor from MP 2000,never had any low quality issues since.

              still running like charm.

I clean the polygon motors on every service visit, i agree that a dirty polygon motor can cause light readings and then overtoning... But we hab a lot of Mp2000 around, never cleaned polygon motor... Worked fine until their end of life. I think that with the Mp2501 Ricoh made a step back.

Ciao Codex, look, i always do like 8T2 too, (except the sp), clean everything well, and do a few black -copy/prints to unload the exced toner, without the toner revolver inside, until you like black, (I use the page-counter triangle as a visual reference), and then memorize the value by initializing the developer....obviously this works until the developer is too contaminated
