    Ricoh Aficio MP W2400 scan to email

    Hello,
    I'm trying to set up scan to email on a Ricoh Aficio MP W240 wide format printer, but it won't work. The email service that I use is Gmail. We have 20+ Ricoh printers (newer models) that use the same SMTP settings and can connect to email without any problem. Some people said that the printer might need a firmware update. Is there a way to download a firmware without being an authorized Ricoh technician?

      The latest FW for this model was released in 2010, so very unlikely it will make much of a difference.

      If you have 2-factor on Gmail it should work, if you generate an App password. You may have to use port 587 (StartTLS).

          The TLS versions on that machine are probably too weak. You'll need to set up a relay server, like Stunnel to give the messages modern encryption.

              I am assuming that you are wanting to use the W2400 send wide documents. Even using a relay, you mat still have problems with multi-page wide documents like construction project sets if the scanned size exceeds 25MB. In those cases you will need to scan to a folder and and send using gmail. Gmail uploads the oversize file to your Google drive and attach a link to the email.

                  I believe it may be too old to support StartTLS. If your gmail is a corporate account instead of a personal one, your IT should be able as Work Space Administrator to set up proper access.

                      Scan to folder won't work in this case. I believe this machine is using SMB 1 and SMB 1 on the server is disabled.
