    DP-770 with J9000 jams

I swapped the paper present sensor with another to confirm that the sensor was OK. The key, for me, was that when one original was inserted and fed, the DP continued to attempt pickup, even though the one original had already completely exited. And when you re-installed the same one original, I insisted that it wanted more originals.

Another forum post confirmed for me that it was something to do with the paper present sensor, but what?

While I was watching the paper present flag I noticed that it bounced when the flag dropped. So the DP controller saw the signal go from On to Off/On/Off. The flag is only gravity operated, so I added a very very weak torsion spring to damp that bounce. To make sure that the spring tail didn't move around I carved a small groove in the frame and gave it a dab of Lazerbond (my new favorite glue). A counterweight may have served the same purpose.

Afterwards I made 30 separate scans without the J9000.

In that forum post tmaged refers to adding a black tape extension to the flag. I think that helps because the tape adds counterweight to damp the bounce also. I think the sensor flag is long enough, just shouldn't bounce. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        Re: DP-770 with J9000 jams

You were right on track there blackcat. see the bulletin. the cut off is shaving off the middle of the actuator in a C type manner OR just making a curve on the original actuator.

There is a bulletin for this jam on the dp-770

        QA E187

Due to the parts variation, the original detection SW actuator may come in contact with the original lift plate and
vibrate after the final original is fed. When it occurs, the light interruption time of the original detection switch
becomes shorter and the J9000 (No original feed JAM) may be detected. As a preventative measure, the
        following change is implemented.

[Change to the original detection SW actuator (No.1)](Old) (New)
        It is cut off here
        so it does not
        come in contact
        with the original
        lift plate
