    [Dead] Orion (MXM365N) won't boot

Does anyone have the breakdown of the 4 LEDs on the MFP pwb? I know when it's working right, all 4 will be on.
Now when powered up, D31 on right will light up, all others off > then the two middle will be on, outside off >
then two middle will be off, outside on > then all off, and sequence will start again.
This has to be an indication of where the problem is, I would hope so, anyway.
The DSPF control pwb had been replaced because it was shorting out the 24v line, and a second time for E6-11 codes.
I suppose the 3rd pwb could be bad - just my luck.
Unable to upgrade firmware, the display never comes on; I did try Update switch on without any luck, and also tried
SDBOOT switch off with no luck.
The two micro switches had no effect either on the above symptoms.
    Any help would be appreciated.

An update from the original tech who had to replaced the DC power supply when the first DSPF control pwb was replaced.
With my luck and the above symptoms, I'll be ordering another DC power supply.
Will update when repaired; but knowing what the LEDs on/off sequence are would be helpful.

I don't know what the led sequence is but you should be able to unplug the unit and disconnect the ADF and restart with the adf wiring disconnected and get a bootup and display. It sounds like a short in the doc feeder somewhere. The odds of 3 bad pwb's and 2 ps boards are pretty high.

Thanks Sharpie, I have tried both the doc feed and the desk unit unplugged while powering up with the same results. I've tried unplugging most power connectors on the PCU pwb, and the HDD unplugged, with only
minor differences in the LED sequence.
The original tech did find the doc feeder was causing a short, and by replacing the power supply and the doc feed control pwb it would boot up, but with the E6-11 code. Now, we're back to not booting, with that familiar 'clicking sound' of the DC power supply relay.

          Re: Orion (MXM365N) won't boot

Before ordering the PS, I wanted to re-check the voltages, and guess what, right now it is working.
One of those AM/FM repairs . I was able to update the firmware, plug in the doc feeder and desk unit, and make copies.
I'm leaving it powered on overnight, and test in the morning by wiggling the connectors, and will replace all the covers; I will test the crap out of before
sending it back to the customer.

Most power supplies nowadays can recover. On a machine this new, I would have a degree of confidence that it will last. If it was 10 years old i might think differently. Congratulations. =^..^=

            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.

I wasn't able to replace covers this morning because it was back to the original symptom - clicking relay and no display.
After a couple of reseating connectors, it held throughout the day from power off/on and sleep mode; I will see what tomorrow's morning brings. The original tech did have to solder in fuses to get one good PS going, that will be one of the first things to check if it returns. That tech was a Sharp master tech from the previous competition in the 1990's, and I have more confidence in his abilities than my own.

Re: Orion (MXM365N) won't boot (UPDATE)

The copier has held up after many power off/on and waking up from sleep mode, so we are giving it the ultimate test of putting it on the delivery truck
for a little ride around town, and bring it back to the shop for further testing/evaluation.

                  Re: Orion (MXM365N) won't boot (2nd Update)

The machine held steady after the 'road test' for more than a week and machine was returned to the customer.
We haven't had a service call yet (I think I just shot myself in the foot), so who knows what actually fixed the problem.

Just had a MX-M465 doing the exact same thing. Ended up being the PCU PWB. Found it by disconnecting Connector 18 on the PCU PWB or Connector 8 on the Mother PWB

Had a similar issue with a MXM364N. Machine wouldn't boot out of the box. I called tech support after trying a few things from this thread. Tech support had me check all my voltage coming from the PS to the Mother Board, PCU and DSPF board. Everything checked out fine. The solution was a new PCU PWB. After replacing it The machine came to ready as normal.
