You can hang your tech screwdriver upside down from anything metal enough.
Using that on a Ricoh MP6500 poses a real problem with that thing sticking everywhere!

Not for daily application but really fun to do with someone un-expectant of this stickydriver .

Make sure you car is out of the warranty period first. I will only do this if it permanently magnetize the driver. The best magnetizer i ever came across is from an acura blower motor. my blower motor went and replaced it and tried the driver on it. i was blown away, only a few dab and the driver is ready and steady. Have this in shop.
The one for the road, is from the hp 9000 series finisher attachment magnet lock. Its is small, light and really powerfull.

these i got from our electrical scrap that i believe was from adf motors or finisher motors. they are strong and magnetize well, but i use them as temporary screw holders.

Holy Cow Yeah!....those stepper motors have SUPER STRONG magnets in them!!!

First time I took one apart was to clean developer iron steel particles out of it from a Ricoh machine!--this is the 50-60 cpm machines....when the developer units fail in the back, they dump the developer all down the backside of the feed units fouling and locking them up, thus necessitating a good cleaning and lube!....DOH!

Just get some small neodymium disc magnets and drop them in, my screwdriver sends the metal detector on my phone into the red.

To reinforce your comment, i was just trying to see how strong this magnet was really. see for yourself. Come on boys go get those motors.

They sure have some holding force.

I've seen a thumbnail size NIB or SmCO magnets lift 8@ 10" shifting spanners chained end for end off the ground.

The screwdrivers with replaceable bits are nice to have for easy access, espically with the rachet function. I have a snap on type and it is great. When working between harness ect, they can be cumbersome and where the bit meet the tool somehow always gets in the way. My preference now is cordless 12v screwdrives, and manual ones for when torque is fragile.

I'll have to see if I can find the magnet I harvested from a mag roller on an old 3M machine. That thing was pretty strong, I could use it to open the door on the fridge. I haven't seen it since I moved here, although I'm pretty sure I brought it along.
3M copiers were rebadged Toshibas back in those days, so if you worked on Toshiba equipment then you might have one too.
I suppose I could use the magnet out of the developer rollers of some the current equipment I see, but they aren't that strong anymore.

An update on those magnets. They would hold and attract metal objects strong, but is not good for magnetizing screwdrivers ect. It does the opposite, it demagnetize drivers.

That is what I have discovered using HDD rare earth magnets (you would think they would be fabulous....)

So that's why I use the 4 stack of magnetron salvaged ones.

In the pics i posted earlier, those magnets from the motors hold metal objects well but does not magnetize drivers, but the HDD DOES do a fantastic job of magnetizing drivers. I have the two types here and done the necessary trials to verify. Had to post this as i think it is important tool in a tech bag.

I have heard that the magnetron magnets are great, but removing them can be very harzadous for health. see below.
