[Annoying] Firmware requests... Over and over again...

Short and to the point, but a rant all the same.

    [rant]

Anyone else getting weary of seeing new 'members' who have never offered anyone a hand with anything expecting those with access to provide firmware? I am.

I realize that some manufacturers may offer firmware upgrades to end users / non-authorized service, but not all do. Want firmware and can't get it publicly? Hire an authorized representative to update it.

Welcome to the 'gimme gimme I want everything for nothing' generation.

    [/rant]

I feel a little better, for a while.

I agree, but for a minute I thought (JustManuals) Paul came back from the dead.

I think of it as "paying ahead". You need to help a few people first. It's that good karma that encourages others to help you out. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I think that we need to start red carding those who offer to help.

My policy is that if you have been around and you have a history helping others, i.e. green cards and rep power. I will PM you. Then you and I are the only ones who know.

As I said to my Adult children. One son is a qualified electrical engineer, one son is a qualified construction engineer.
If you don't pass on your own knowledge to your younger generations you will only have yourself to blame, when your sitting in the gutter, cold, tired, hungry old and gray an unable to work. If you don't pass on your knowledge, there will be no one able to build your retirement home; fix the airconditioning, or medical equipment for your health.

So if you don't pass on your knowledge, you yourself will be to blame for your own circumstances that you find yourself in.

Pay it forward is very real....
