Re: Just how Crazy is Donald Trump!
This is a good start. We need more facts without bias for the people to look at and decide for themselves. It should also disclose the manner in which the data was obtained, especially when statistical data models are being used not actual verified information. Government agencies tend to create a bucket of conclusion with a drop of verified information.Comment

Re: Just how Crazy is Donald Trump!
President Trump announced today, effective Sept 24 2018, a 10% tariff on a broad list of $200 B worth of Chinese goods.
https://ustr.gov/about-us/poli...inalizes-tariffs-200
On this final list are all forms of copy devices. No mention of printers. No mention of toner.
Unless China makes serious trade concessions to the USA, without retaliatory tariffs of its own on USA made goods sold in China, the 10% tariff will rise to 25% on Jan 01 2019.
These devices are on the final tariff list, published Sept 17 2018
8443.39.20 Electrostatic photocopying apparatus, operating by reproducing the original image via
an intermediate onto the copy (indirect process)
8443.39.30 Photocopying apparatus, other than electrostatic, incorporating an optical system
8443.39.40 Photocopying apparatus, other than electrostatic, of the contact type
8443.39.50 Thermocopying apparatus
8443.99.10 Accessory & auxiliary machines intended for attachment to an electrostatic
photocopier & which do not operate independent of such copier
8443.99.30 Parts of facsimile machines specified in additional U.S. note 3 to this chapter
Although copier manufacturers might be able to absorb a 10% increase to their cost of goods entering the USA, I seriously doubt they could absorb a 25% tariff. They will be forced to pass this cost onto their distribution partners and ultimately your copier business and finally to your customers.
As all tariff revenue goes directly into USA gov't general revenues, tariffs are essentially a form of hidden taxation on the American consumer.Comment

IF the American people STAND behind these changes.. WHO gives the RIGHT ( God given or otherwise ) to other to object? Do you think China will take that hit for very long? No one else has.. they are ALL running to the table.Comment

The gov't numbers go back as far as the 1980's with Jimmy Carter as President.
The numbers are not focused on President Obama's term.
It will not be until sometime in late 2019 that meaningful official gov't numbers will be published on President Trump regarding 2018.Comment

Re: Just how Crazy is Donald Trump!
China due to lax trade agreements in the past has been RAPING the USA.. kinda like our northern "ally" Canada ..they have has 475% tariffs for several years ( obama era ) on our Dairy products besides others like wood products...agriculture ...
IF the American people STAND behind these changes.. WHO gives the RIGHT ( God given or otherwise ) to other to object? Do you think China will take that hit for very long? No one else has.. they are ALL running to the table.
Canada has a 275% tariff on select, not all, dairy products from the USA. Several USA states produce way too much milk and milk byproducts due to Federal and State subsidies. If American dairy product was to enter Canada without tariffs it would devastate our local dairy industries.
Why does Canada have to suffer to only partially solve a made in USA problem?
On the issue of Canadian wood products entering the USA it has been estimated in numerous places that the average cost to build a house in the USA has increased by as much as $9,000.00 due entirely to US import tariffs.
China is a different beast than all of the other countries that have been forced to the negotiation table. If China's ruling Communist party says too bad to its citizens, sell your goods elsewhere in the world and make less money and profits, then that is the way it is.
Eventually, President Trump will no longer be in office but China will still be there.
With the November mid term elections less than 50 days away, the American people will get their first chance to vote on President Trump's performance. Increasing the cost of many imported Chinese goods by 10% just prior to an election, to me, is not the best timing.Comment

Re: Just how Crazy is Donald Trump!
Please explain this response. It is pretty accurate. The US milk industry is heavily subsidised. Canada has a system that helps limit production so as to help producers stay in business.Comment

Re: Just how Crazy is Donald Trump!
The second largest milk producing state in the USA, Nebraska, produces more milk than all of Canada in any given year.
The US gov't provided direct and indirect support to its dairy industry of $22.5 B in 2015.
In 2015, 73% of milk farm returns enjoyed some form of gov't support.
The US Dept of Agriculture has detailed that over the last decade, US farm prices for milk has failed to cover the cost of production.
U.S. dairy subsidies equal 73 percent of producer returns, says new report – RealAgriculture
Fair trade is in the eye of the beholder. If you want to believe a US President who is documented to have made over 4,000+ false or misleading claims in less than two years in office, that is your choice.Last edited by SalesServiceGuy; 09-18-2018, 06:28 PM.Comment

Re: Just how Crazy is Donald Trump!
It has been reported that Canada has offered concessions on the dairy issue with the USA but wants to preserve the current anti dumping dispute panel and protection for Canadian cultural sectors.
The USA wants to abolish or limit both.
The USA seems to be taking the tact that it is my way or no way.
The Prime Minister of Canada said yesterday, if no good deal can be found then Canada will not sign the NAFTA trade agreement before Sept 30. Most Canadian polls support the Prime Ministers position and reject agreeing to the USA's bullying tactics.
For many US states and industries, Canada is their largest trading partner.
When you throw the mid-term elections, the China trade war and a potential US Gov't shut down at the end of Sept, the Trump Administration has a lot to handle.Comment
