and you must admit ... if CNN-MSNBC does a poll.. who are they going to get to call in from their viewers.. LIBERALS... just like you would expect Republicans would take the Faux News polls... frankly I don't put much faith in polls esp when just before the election all the MSNBC -CNN - ABC -CBS polls were calling for a landslide by Clinton.

Correction, this thread is in the Rants, Raves, and Everything Else forum. This type of thread is exactly what this forum was added for. I remember a couple of years ago there was a discussion thread on gun ownership/control laws.

You don't conduct a poll by having people call in. The pollster calls out to random people

Many polls ARE conducted by having viewers call in. The local NBC station has one almost every day on an issue in the news, sometimes local news sometimes national or international.

As for national polling companies, many are man on the street type of polls. These therefore are taken in major cities. The sampling is therefore tilted toward the liberal side. A look at the election results maps will show this. Also those participating in these are not those with full time day jobs. Another tilt to the left.

Many pollsters also use qualifying preliminary questions. If from your answers to those questions they decide that you are too conservative, they do not ask you the main questions. They will also ask questions to which the answer can be interpreted incorrectly. As an example, a number of years school children were asked if their mother fixed them a hot breakfast. The children, wanting to be truthful, would only say yes if it was their mother that fixed breakfast. If it was their father, a grandparent, an older sibling, etc they would answer no.

Obama was the biggest disaster that ever hit this country. It's so embarrassing. We accomplished so much by electing our first black president. Think of how far we've come in the past sixty years to have been able to accomplish that. And it had to be THAT guy. Dreadful.

I would have guessed either 911, Pearl Harbour, The Great Depression, slavery, etc etc as a bigger disaster than one specific president.

While I agree that polls can be biased one way or the other, I think it's pretty closed minded to assume that only right wingers have day jobs. I am certain there are many, many "liberals" who have full time day jobs. It isn't just a right wing phenomenon, regardless of your own personal biases.

And every poll prior to the November election showed him losing. Some, in a four way race, had him as low as 38% at one tie following the convention.

It has been quite a while but I had a polling firm as a customer while I repaired computer terminals. I do not trust polls. The pollsters are guided by the organization paying for the poll. Most political polls are push polls. Meaning the poll questions are formed to confirm a particular position. I especially do not trust any poll done by media outlets. The particular reason behind my mistrust of poll is a phone session for a polling firm I was stuck in the middle of while repairing a computer terminal. The specific questions to be asked by the pollster: "Have any of your children come to you in the past two months and said mommy/daddy I'm hungry?" I don't know about anyone else but there were a lot of times when I came in from playing and said "Mom I'm hungry can I eat some cereal or make a sandwich? According to the polling company that meant that my family would have been part of the "massive hunger crises in America" Did not matter that I was fed within the time it took to make a sandwich or be given a slice of cake or any other food. Just the fact that I was hungry at some point in the day,
And that was the push behind the poll (starving children in America) being paid for by some group eager to expand the (way back then) food stamp program. Other examples I have seen for push polling were real common when CNN announced some poll in support of whatever their favorite political figure was at the moment. Of course way back when CNN first started broadcasting they did gain the moniker Clinton News Network because of their fawning reports of then president Clinton. The best part of not having cable or satellite tv is I don't see a whole lot of polls being highlighted by whatever channel is "taking the pulse of the country". Of course during the election cycle you can't avoid polls. And it seems that the newscasters are real real quick to announce the latest bad poll numbers for the president and good numbers for the recently left office president. I've even seen one report of how people in europe are blaming Trump for Brexit results.

Yeah, there are local radio or TV polls, but I don't think anyone puts much stock in them. The companies that do it for a living try to be more scientific. Also, I'm not saying these professional pollsters are 100% accurate either.

well even with this thread .. you will have people that do not reside in America trying to bash the President on things done in the first 130days! The past administration didn't get really ANYTHING done in the first 8 months, but it is OK to bash Trump when Congress won't even approve ALL his cabinet picks.
Then dig up EVERY bit of dirt on the man " WOW two scoops of icecream, when everyone else gets one" " Or does he have a fear of stairs?" Hell Hillary couldn't stop coughing or make it to her van without falling!
Trump will be blamed for everything.. but not praised for ..sending money to Flint to fix the water crisis.. or putting a halt to the massive government hiring ,,, or banning administration people from lobbying for companies or countries once they leave office.
But let the liberals keep funding the protests/riots, and the House/Senate members keep making asses of themselves by calling for impeachment when THEY themselves have taken bribes to vote a certain way.. hired their kids @ 300,000$ a year for stuffing envelopes... or turning the other way when Bill and Lorettie meet on a plane to talk golf and grandkids ( uh huh )

Yep, I guess its fake when we see the line of busses bringing in the protestors. Its been proven that protests at Trump rallies were paid for and bragged about.
