Making US history President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey today. Essentially Trump fired the person who was investigating charges into the Trump campaign's possible collusion with Russia during the 2016 election. The White House has badly underestimated the political firestorm that it has just released with loud condemnations from both Democrats and prominent Republican senators and congressmen.
The FBI Director is a position for 10 years intended to ride above political considerations.
In what only can be considered rude behavior by President Trump, James Comey first heard about his firing while speaking in front of a group of LA FBI agents from tvs playing in the background.Comment

Ah sorry but some of the same people now expressing outrage about the firing of Comey were less than a year ago calling for Obama to fire him before the election, Source of this demand is by a less than conservative Daily KOS.

Naahh!...
As an outside observer, who like every other person from overseas has to form an opinion from the (already biased sensationalised) media Television broadcast local to them, do personally believe that the current leader of the free and democratic world should do okay in his final resolve <ooohh breathhh...>.
It appears that once we/our leaders get their fill of their own ego power-trip they all seam to settle down into their job. I guess that our illustrious leaders begin to realise that half of the world is lost, and the other half are out looking for them.
Which really equates to one big ship load of apathy....
It might be prudent that Mr Trumpty observe that the media he disrepects today(while in office) are the same media he
has to parle' with for pending company advertisements when he leaves his term in office. The hands we step on in our climb up the ladder of power, are the same hands we call on to wipe our butt after coming/falling down from our greasy climb.
I guess life is like one big game of marbles. We all join together as associates or friends, and sit around in a big circle trying to
knock the most marbles away from the other guys. The guy with the most marbles (carry's alot of extra baggage) but "appears" to be the winner. How many marbles have we all lost today....?

If Pres Trump had fired Comey when he first got into office, people would have said he's getting back at him for not having followed procedures concerning Hilary, and for revenge. If he had fired him a short time later, people would have accused him of hiding something concerning the Russians. I think he was giving Comey enough time to do some investigating, just to be fair. Finally, after months of finding "no evidence," Trump said, "enough is enough... this guy has to go."
Trump did what needed to be done. No one thought this guy should be in office. No one wanted him heading the most powerful law enforcement agency in the world. Everyone wanted him gone. Everyone who knew him was afraid of him. Trump is draining the swamp.Comment

The White House dropped the ball and did not check FBI Director Comey's schedule to first learn his location. As Director Comey was speaking to a group of FBI field agents in LA, one of his assistants first noticed the news on TVs in the background. Comey at first thought it was a hoax and had to check with HQ to find out the sad truth.
No way to treat anyone especially a career senior FBI official.
Now citizen Comey, the former FBI Director has been asked to speak next week at the Senate investigation into the Trump campaign's potential collusion with Russia during the 2016 election.
FBI Directors are appointed to a 10 year term so as not to become involved in day to day USA politics. The last time a FBI Director was fired was 24 years ago under President Clinton due to significant ethics concerns. There has never been a 3rd FBI Director fired in US history.Comment

Your link correctly points out that the firing of a FBI Director has happened once before in US history during the Clinton Presidency. The reasons then were much different and based upon serious personal ethics concerns.
FBI Director Comey's firing is different and the first in US history because there is growing evidence that it was President Trump's decision to fire the person who's investigation into potential collusion between the Trump election campaign and Russia was gaining momentum. Many have called this action an abuse of executive power.
I think like the Republican party who constantly mention Benghazi, the Clinton Foundation, the Clinton email server and other talking points to distract the population from the issues of the day, that this potential collusion with the Russians will haunt the Trump administration for its full term in office.Comment

The real thing i notice (as a Canadian)is how he wants to toss out Obama's health care (yes it has flaws) and replace it with something that will guarantee millions of his loyal southern (financially poor) supporters will now have no health care and probably wont be able to afford any.
Plus the outright lies ..and then later when someone tells him we cant afford it then its ok to leave it as is. Or just the comments when he stick his foot deeply in his mouth.I fix copiers ...Well SortaComment
