There's no doubt that Trump supporters are scum of the earth that need to be banned from social media. Barred from stores and restaurants. Disallowed from attending colleges and universities. US investigators have opened 275 criminal cases and charged roughly 98 individuals in connection to last week's pro-President Donald Trump riot at the US Capitol, federal officials said Friday, emphasizing they are focused on rounding up the most violent offenders.
That number will easily grow to over 300 by the end of the day, Michael Sherwin, acting US Attorney for the District of Columbia, told reporters during Friday's news conference.
The update comes as federal investigators are chasing thousands of leads in twin efforts to prosecute people involved in last week's attack on the US Capitol and to try to prevent feared follow-up attacks in Washington, DC, and around the country.Comment

US Security forces surrounding Washington, DC and the site of President Biden's outdoor inauguration, have created a Green zone around the event, similar to what was created in Baghdad during the war there against insurgents.
Inside the Green zone, there is a Red Zone, where all who pass have their credentials triple checked.
One of the sad facts during the riotous attack on the Capitol Building was the presence of the Confederate flag within the building. That flag has never flown inside the building, even during the entire US Civil War of 1861-1865.Comment

This year, there are more US troops in Washington than in Iraq and Afghanistan. Massive iron and concrete barriers have been erected blocks away from the inaugural platform on the West Front of the Capitol. One official said well-wishers would be lucky to even glimpse the top of the Capitol's white dome if they show up.Comment

Republican Georgia congresswoman to work to impeach President-elect Joe Biden
As President Donald Trump was impeached Wednesday for a second time, a U.S. Representative from Georgia is looking to impeach his successor.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says she wants impeach President Joe Biden.
The Republican congresswoman said that she'll move forward with the matter one day after Inauguration Day and on Biden's first full day in office.
She wrote in a tweet, "On January 21st, I'm filing Articles of Impeachment on President-elect @JoeBiden."
Greene added, "I'm proud to be the voice of Republican voters who have been ignored."
The congresswoman wrote she will be filing articles of impeachment for alleged abuse of power.
Greene made the announcement on the far-right, conservative cable news channel Newsmax.
Greene spoke Wednesday during heated exchanges over Trump's impending impeachment in the House. She slammed Democrats for their second impeachment.
"Democrats' impeachment of President Trump today has now set the standard that they should be removed for their support of violence against the American people," she said.
Greene won her house seat in November and represents Georgia's 14th Congressional District, which includes almost all of the northwestern part of the state.
But she has also been known for espousing bigoted and conspiratorial views, including those promoted by fringe conspiracy group QAnon.
The QAnon conspiracy theory is centered on the baseless belief that Trump is waging a secret campaign against enemies in the "deep state" and a child sex trafficking ring run by satanic pedophiles and cannibals.
In a series of videos unearthed just after Greene placed first in the initial June 9 Republican primary, she complains of an "Islamic invasion" into government offices, claims Black and Hispanic men are held back by "gangs and dealing drugs," and pushes an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that billionaire philanthropist George Soros, who is Jewish, collaborated with the Nazis.
The president came in support of Greene prior to her securing her seat in Congress.

Olympian Klete Keller surrenders, faces 3 charges for involvement in Capitol riots

Two-time Olympic gold medaling swimmer Klete Keller turned himself in to federal authorities on Thursday on charges connected to his alleged involvement in the riots at the U.S. Capitol last week.
Keller, who earned five medals at three Olympic games in the 2000s, was charged with three crimes in U.S. District Court in Denver and was released without bond, per the Arizona Republic.
The charges were unveiled Wednesday before he turned himself in and the judge detailed them and the maximum sentences during a court hearing on Thursday. Keller could also face additional charges.

According to a U.S. District Court criminal complaint filed in Washington, D.C., the 38-year-old is charged with:
Obstructing law enforcement engaged in official duties incident to civil disorder
Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority
Violent entry and disorderly conduct on capitol grounds
The first has a maximum penalty of five years in prison, Magistrate Judge Michael E. Hegarty said at the hearing, via the Republic. Each of the charges carry a maximum $250,000 fine. Per the Washington Post, Keller could face up to 15 1/2 years in jail.
Keller is not allowed to leave Colorado except to visit his children in North Carolina. He worked as a commercial real estate agent until Tuesday when he was identified in photos from the Capitol riot.Comment
