We should get you your own office. .... I'm sorry, but I have standards about where I work, and I think they are a little higher than yours.
We should put you on the payroll...

Last time I got that line was about 8 months ago. The machine was not in my territory as I was covering for a vacationing tech. The machine hadn't been serviced in about 5 months (according to the history) and even then it was only for a PM. This call was for lines on the copies, not the prints......Of course, a phone call could have solved this situation but the Key Op was far too busy sticking her thumb up her......well, just too busy to do the easy fix and clean the slit glass. Upon arrival she attacked, and I mean attacked, with "This piece of sh/t is a piece of sh/t" (I kid you not) and then followed it up with "We should just put you on the payroll" crap. 16 years has taught me to hold my tongue but that day was not the day for her to start. I explained to her that I'd gladly take 50k, minimum four weeks of vacation, an office on the east side with a window, and since it was obvious that no one in that office, including her, was capable of resolving a simple issue with a copier, I'd be taking her job also, soon after being hired. During this about 4 other people were listening in and it was pretty clear they enjoyed this douche bag getting berated by the lowliest of low technicians. The about-face she performed and subsequent retreat to her office was priceless, I only wish I could have filmed it. It's 8 months later and I've asked my service manager twice now if anyone has called to complain about my service that day and so far she hasn't.
I don't advocate such harsh treatment of the morons who we all call customers, but everyone needs a "theraputic" release occassionally and she was the catcher in that instance.VectorLinux---Check it out!Comment
