Non-OEM colour toner? Never, NEver, NEVer, NEVEr, NEVER!!! It's bad enough when people try using non-OEM black and white, then take the problem and multiply by four...

Ditto. I don't have any good stories about aftermarket color toner. The only way I would even entertain it is if the vendor would guarantee it for parts and labor if there are issues, and I don't think they will do that.

          Ricoh 2238c.
Charged customer for new DV units at retail.
Their contract covered toner and they thought they were saving money.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Only OEM here. Saving money? Back in the analog days I would occasionally catch customers dumping waste toner back in the toner bottle. I made sure I delivered a strong message with the charge for servicing the developer unit.

I have fresh proof. 2 weeks ago guy called me and didn't lay. He bought set of aftermarket toner witch have 5% lover price then OEM for bizhub c350.
He pulled 50 good copes and then machine started to act "strange" (really??)

After 3 mins of conversation i told him how will i repair the machine. 4xtoners,4xdrums and guy fainted

Ups i forgot to say. Since the price was to high he told me that he will buy an aftermarket drums and put OEM toners....clearly he didnt learn lesion first time, now he will have to lean for second time...

We have used Katun CLC700 and 1130 toners in the past and not had problems from any of the machines. We only stopped using them because we restructured our pricing agreement with Canon of which one of the conditions was that we only use them for spares, toners and drums.

A UK company called Allcopy also did B&W toners for us with which we had no probs.

Ricoh had such a problem with toner pirates and hacker toner that all their new color machines have a chip in them that not only has a Mfgr ID code, but keeps up with the amount of toner fed out of the bottle and will shut down the machine with an out of toner message when the bottle should be empty to prevent refills.

I just ran across a DSc38 running aftermarket toner and complaining of toner dropping on the pages even after replacing the drums and dev units. I told them to dump the garbage toner so they had me talk to someone in the purchacing department. He almost dropped the phone when I told him he may have to replace all the components I just put in at cost to him. It really wasn't the answer he was looking for.
