OK so I'm an old fashioned dinosaur but I still prefer a test chart as after staring at them for 30 years I can pick up a fault instantly.
I'm also always yelling at the techs that when they bring parts back for warranty claim they have to bring back samples on the manufacturers official chart. I'm usually wasting my breath on that one, oh well only 2 years to go till I'm out of this game.

I have the same problem getting samples...So why do you think techs ignore this simple request...? ( Sorry I know it's a little off topic)

One of the best originals was the one I kept in my possession for at least a week....

If I kept an original for a month I would frame it in a wooden picture frame up on the wall... kidding..

See attached. This is front & back of old Sharp Fax test sheet. Read the text. The way they describe the process looks like something from a Sci-fi movie. If I was a customer reading that I would be scared to death. Ha-ha

Actually back in those days Sharp owned the fax market. Pre- Brother.

Good replies. Forgot to mention the name of test charts, the old timers will remember these names: sel-drum, Ames supply and Densigraphix (still around in Canada)

Ames was a good company, was my go to place back in the day for parts, platt tool cases, tools, vacs, etc. One of the only places us Indy's could get aftermarket parts back in the 80's.

I still have my Ames softsided tool-case with some Ames tools that I use to this day.

I always cut my A3 test chart in half as it then took twice as long to lose it!

A 4" (that's a 100mm for Y-Gen) steel ruler to measure corona wire height when restringing CANON corona frames. Not forgetting the front and rear side of the corona wire were set a slightly different heights to compensate for Ion current dissipation along the OPC drum.

A 4" (that's a 100mm for Y-Gen) steel ruler to measure corona wire height when restringing CANON corona frames. Not forgetting the front and rear side of the corona wire were set a slightly different heights to compensate for Ion current dissipation along the OPC drum.

I still have a spool of corona wire on my desk..................

I never want to restring a corona wire again !!!

Seriously, I have actually restrung a few coronas within last year. Both times on a Kip 3000 wide format. Mind you the coronas are 3 feet long on a wide format! That's a lot of wire wasted when they keep breaking as you restring the corona. Usually breaks at least once. Most important part is not to turn loop on end too many times. It will weaken the string and snap, then start all over!

FYI, If God don't like you he will send you to hell where you will spend an eternity stringing old Canon corona wire "grids". The old timers will know what I'm talking about.
