Wow that is idiotic... Used opioid needles scattered everywhere close to school children and in view of there using the stuff. My heart goes out to the people that ends up on the street. Not all got there due to addiction but once on the street the habit gets picked up so easily. There is a massive increase in homeless not just in the US but world wide. If you do not mesh with the system and follow its ways it spits you right out. Its going to get a lot worst. In Canada you can now apply to be euthanized if you can afford to make a living!
Its good to provide shelter to the homeless but not in the form of tents and other temporary structures. It should be communal living and not in houses were there would be very little control. People that lands there must get the idea that its not a long term permeant solution but a stepping stone to become rehabilitated, healthy and independent and interdependent on there peers.
Putting broken people into housing without upliftment and motivation is pointless and harmful. Then do that on school property....WhateverComment

What we are encountering here in Bakersfield is that many of the homeless have pet dogs and the open bay centers do not allow animals. There are a number of projects here and elsewhere to build one bedroom mini homes and one room cabins. The cabins are not much more than a modified 12X12 Tuff Shed with insulation, lighting, wall mounted 7500 BTU AC with heating and a sink with hot and cold running water. These projects are supposed to allow dogs and also give couples a bit more privacy. Most projects are to be 50 units with a community center where there will be toilet facilities, showers ,laundry room and a dining room and kitchen.Comment
