Don't those lives matter enough to shut the world down and ramp up food production to feed those people??

Every year in the United States there are 480,000 deaths from smoking cigarettes. Are we banning those for the good of those lives? No, too much of a money-maker.
88,000 people die every year in the U.S. from alcohol related deaths. Again, are we banning alcohol to save those lives every year. No.
1.4 MILLION people die worldwide from automobile accidents every year. Are we banning cars from being on the road to possibly save those lives. No.
When H1N1 infected almost a 1/4 of the worlds population (1.4 BILLION, with "up to 575,000 deaths"), did we track it day by day, and Panic the whole world into shutting down?? NO!

This is a completely new virus. That means nobody has immunity, which means everyone will get it. With a death rate of 2% if everyone in the US got it there would be over 6 million deaths.
That is why there are shutdowns. If everyone got sick the healthcare system would implode and take the economy with it.

I seriously doubt it will even hit the 150,000 mark they once had made. Many of the original 'hot spots' are now noticing a decline in new cases, and the recovery rate has sped up some.
An OK hospital has closed down their COVID area and are starting back up on previously scheduled operations/surgeries.

reports have been coming out that the COVID-19 can reinfect the same body again... some say the symptoms are worse some say better....

as with any infection IF the body isn't good shape to begin with, the symptoms will be more severe ..

McConnell and the Republicans are not necessarily against the additional funds, but the money needed for the Small Business Administration is needed now as demand for the loans has been high.
“No one is necessarily against additional assistance … much of the rest of the money has not gone out yet,” McConnell said.

“It’s hard to measure the effect it’s had and the additional need. This is the one program that was running out of money, needed assistance now, and all my proposed amendment would do at the request of the administration was simply change one number.”
Democrats want to wrangle for the things they want but Republicans are frightened that the Paycheck Protection Program, a new loan program for business owners, could run out of funds in days or weeks.
