Re: Let the truth be known
This is one of the big issues with privatization. When it's all about profit maintenance takes a back seat.
Road maintenance here was privatized and now holes aren't fixed right away and the plows don't come out right away after a big snow. When the municipality provided the service things were done much quicker.Comment

Re: Let the truth be known
There is one really big flaw in your reasoning. The problem lies with the government. Holes will not get fixed until after the government decides to contact a private asphalt company to do the job. And if they decide to get bids first, that can add weeks often months. The government doesn't care. They can always blame the private company for the delay and people like you will believe them.Comment

So, you're an advocate for the government taking over for private business because they're good at filling potholes?Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

What countries have lead the world in medical research and innovation during the time period between 1995 and 2014?

It's the US. This isn't even up for debate. By pretty much any metric, the US has destroyed the competition when it comes to total impact in medical research and innovation.
Here are the number of papers and citations produced by the top 20 countries. China is creeping up but anyone can tell you that the data really isn't that good. I've included the top 20 to allow for nay-sayers to point out that Holland and Switzerland technically have higher citations per document.

Sure. Are you incapable of simply accepting information in the spirit it is given? I just stated the obvious. In this situation, when profits are involved, maintenance tends to fall by the wayside.Comment

Re: Let the truth be known
You were trying to make a bigger point that because local government can fill a pothole cheaper that this is proof that the power grid should be turned over to the government. I think that's flimsy thinking at best.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Sure, if it makes you feel superior, you can believe that. We all know how you love to feel superior.Comment

It's odd that you post about a pothole in response to the power grid. But if say your post had nothing to do with the power grid, okay. lolAdversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

I'm being serious? What were you trying to say? Was your only point that the government is better at filling a hole? Your response about potholes was to a post about the power grid.

Please, I already gave you permission to believe whatever you want. So do it.Comment

Re: Let the truth be known
In a discussion about the power grid, I want to thank you for your little nugget about a pot hole that apparently you wedged in for no other reason than you wanted to show that the government can fill a hole cheaper. And I'm not even sure that's true. How do you know this? Do you have any evidence?Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment
