My Social Security benefit isn't free. I paid into the system my entire working life. Current rate is 6.2% and is computed based on gross pay before any other deductions. My employer as had to submit a matching amount. As originally proposed the US government was supposed to also contribute an amount equivalent to the total of both employee and employer amounts but have never passed the necessary appropriation bills.

Ukraine can join to NATO but be a member of NATO cost a lot! That is not cheap membership. What we did see last few days, Russia just enter in to two regions. They have two new republics, soon they will make more republics.
