Cuomo’s Nursing Home Nightmare Exposed by Own Aide: We Now Know ‘Criminal’ Number Sent Back to Spread COVID

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s nursing home scandal has been completely unmasked.

The New York Post on Thursday obtained a leak from Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa that tells us what astute observers already knew about Cuomo’s disastrous order to return nursing home residents back after testing positive for COVID-19 in the early weeks of the pandemic: There was a cover-up.

The Post reported that Cuomo’s own words during a video conference call that explains why he didn’t produce the data: Because of Trump.

In the call, Cuomo refered to President Trump’s pressure on the governor, according to the brave Secretary to the Governor DeRosa:
“He starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes,” DeRosa said. “He starts going after [New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer.”

In addition to attacking Cuomo’s fellow Democratic governors, DeRosa said, Trump “directs the Department of Justice to do an investigation into us.”
“And basically, we froze,” she told the lawmakers on the call.

“Because then we were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice, or what we give to you guys, what we start saying, was going to be used against us while we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation,” she continued

“That played a very large role into this,” she added.

The Associated Press is also reporting the number of nursing home residents that were sent back to spread COVID in long-term care facilities under Cuomo’s order: Over 9,000.

More than 9,000 recovering coronavirus patients in New York state were released from hospitals into nursing homes early in the pandemic under a controversial order that was scrapped amid criticisms it accelerated outbreaks, according to new records obtained by The Associated Press.
The new number of 9,056 recovering patients sent to hundreds of nursing homes is more than 40% higher than what had been previously released by the state health department. And it raises new questions as to whether Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s March 25 directive helped spread sickness and death among residents, a charge his administration disputes.

It is a startling 40% higher figure than what was previously stated. It also raises new questions about Governor Cuomo, who know longer has Trump to blame for his failed leadership.

The governor even had the nerve to pen an effusive biopic about his own self-imagined grandeur, “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the Covid-19 Pandemic.”

An earlier report made similar allegations and estimates that suggested the Cuomo administration’s earlier numbers were way off.

“The New York State attorney general accused the Cuomo administration of undercounting coronavirus-related deaths at nursing homes by as much as 50 percent, according to a report released on Thursday,” the Times reported.

Come on man, get your lies straight. Is it American citizens or doses. Remember that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require 2 doses per person and the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine has not yet been approved for emergency distribution and the single dose Oxford/AstraZeneca might not be available in the USA until April. So if we reach millions Americans vaccinated by July it will be a matter of at least 4 different manufacturers having their vaccines in the distribution channel by then.

Trudeau and Canada really shit the bed on the vaccine.

Canada's vaccine rollout stalls, confining seniors to their homes for months to come

Ottawa, Canada (CNN)Like most Canadian seniors, David and Carol Green have been patient and even good humored about the pandemic waves that have kept them house-bound for nearly a year.

But their patience, if not their sense of humor, is running thin. They say they still have no idea when they will get that all important "shot in the arm" and a shot at a normal life again.
"On the one hand you try to be reasonable, and then on the other you're screaming your head off saying...you know, 'what's wrong here, why are we not doing something else,' ya know?" said Carol as her husband David nodded in agreement from their home in Stouffville, Ontario, just outside of Toronto.
The Canadian government thought it could pay to play in the global race to vaccinate its way back to normal life. But as its vaccine supply slowed to a trickle in February, Canada remains on the sidelines of that race despite buying more vaccines doses per capita than, likely, any other country on Earth.

Canada did seemingly get an early start on buying vaccines in April last year, although the government says it could not convince any companies to produce them on Canadian soil. And ultimately it was the timeline -- the fact that manufacturers did not prioritize Canada for doses this winter -- that has sealed the fate of millions of Canadians still waiting to get a vaccine.

"We just haven't heard anything about about what the near future holds for us other than the fact that we might see some supply coming into the country in April, and that's a very frustrating thing for me," David told CNN.

            Where are Canada's vaccines?

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is sticking to his promise: Every Canadian who wants a vaccine will get one by September.
To make good on that promise, Canada says it has purchased nearly 400 million doses from seven vaccine manufacturers. To date only the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines have been authorized for use in Canada.
While Canada says it has spent nearly a billion dollars to buy those vaccines, the country has not been at the front of the line in receiving those vaccines.
Both Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna have significantly slowed deliveries to Canada after a combination of manufacturing delays and demands from Europe, where Canada procures its doses, to restrict vaccine exports subject to European approval.
Canada did not attempt to procure any vaccine doses from the US after the Trump administration indicated it would not allow any vaccines to be exported.
"The turbulence week after week that we're seeing is of concern and we're watching it closely and we're staying on it," Trudeau said last week during a press conference. "But let me reassure people we are still very much on track as promised to get those six million doses by the end of March, because that's what the vaccine CEO's keep telling me, and I'm happy to reassure Canadians on that."
For Canada, vaccines may be plentiful by spring but months late to help the vulnerable who are still sheltering and fearful of new virus variants.
"The bottom line is that every single delay is lives lost, and that's the tragedy of it all," said Jillian Kohler, a professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto and an adviser with the World Health Organization. "This is not something where we can just sit back and say, 'oh we didn't think this through' or 'we didn't we know that manufacturing of vaccines is complex and delays do happen,' but the reality is when we slow down (on vaccines) we have lives that are lost needlessly and that is unacceptable."

That reads to me like Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has allowed global big pharma take advantage of the Canadian people. He has paid them huge sums of money with absolutely no promise of delivery. I wonder how much kick back he personally got?

To fight the spread of COVID-19, a country like Canada has to use a combination of public health measures.

New variants 'threaten to undo our progress' | Ontario COVID-19 modelling update and questions - YouTube

While the timely distribution of vaccines is important it is only one part of the public health strategy. Those vaccines that are available have been distributed to the most at risk, namely the elderly in long term care homes. This has proven to be an effective strategy.

Canada has employed measures to control the mobility of its citizens within its provinces and for people entering from other countries, particularly from the USA, the UK and South America.

This has significantly reduced the spread of the virus especially as new variants like the B1.1.1 variant first found in the UK, with rapid transmission rates, has been found in Canada.

Other public health emergency measures like lock downs and the temporary closures of non-essential businesses have proved effective.

As a result, COVID-19 deaths, infection rates, hospitalizations and ICU occupancy rates remain deadly serious but are all either declining or stabilizing.

Canada remains confident that it will receive all vaccines contracted for and that all citizens who wish to be vaccinated will be able to do so by Sept 2021.

Overly focussing on vaccine delivery, one part of the national strategy, is an inaccurate and simplistic view of the entire country wide efforts.

Liberals touted Cuomo has some kind of hero during the Covid Crisis, but it turns out he's just another liberal fraud. Prison is in his future:

NY Rep. Tom Reed will file criminal complaint against Cuomo aide for alleged COVID-19 nursing home cover-up

Rep. Tom Reed, R-N.Y. said Friday he will file a criminal complaint against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's aide and is calling for her arrest, after a bombshell admission that she withheld data on COVID-19 deaths at nursing homes to avoid federal scrutiny.
CUOMO AIDE TELLS NY DEMOCRATS ADMINISTRATION HID NURSING HOME DATA TO KEEP IT FROM TRUMP DOJ: REPORT
"I'm going to be looking at filing a personal criminal complaint against this individual today in local law enforcement offices as well as federal offices because she needs to be arrested today," Reed told FOX Business' Maria Bartiromo on Friday.
A spokesperson for Cuomo did not immediately respond to FOX Business' request for comment.
Melissa DeRosa, the secretary to the governor, told top New York Democrats on Thursday that Cuomo's administration feared the data about COVID-19 deaths could "be used against us" by the Justice Department in the midst of its federal probe initiated against four states regarding nursing home deaths, including New York.

The admission fueled outrage after a probe by the New York Attorney General Letitia James revealed Cuomo's Department of Health underreported COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes by as much as 50%.

CUOMO HEADS TO DC TO MEET WITH BIDEN AS NY NURSING-HOME SCANDAL EXPLODES
The governor had long faced criticism for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020 after he directed nursing homes in the Empire State to accept patients who had or were suspected of having COVID-19. The decision created an onslaught of COVID-19 cases that infected thousands of elderly patients and resulted in hundreds of deaths among the state's most vulnerable population.
Rich Azzopardi, a senior Cuomo adviser, insinuated that the DOJ's investigation, spearheaded under former President Donald Trump's administration, was "politically motivated" and Cuomo and other top state officials feared the information would be used to "blame Democratic states for COVID deaths."
Reed said Republican lawmakers are demanding that "transparency and accountability" be part of the next COVID-19 package.
"The days of Cuomo are going to be numbered in Albany here, but most important we need to start with this second-in-command," Reed said.
Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., has also called for a federal obstruction of justice investigation into the New York nursing home situation.
Other New York Republican lawmakers, including Rep. Elise Stefanik, demanded that Cuomo and his "senior team" be "prosecuted immediately" at the state and federal levels, regarding the nursing home deaths.

The New York Department of Health reported that as of Jan. 27, 2021, there were 5,957 confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 in nursing homes and an additional 2,783 presumed deaths. In assisted care facilities, there were 160 deaths and 52 presumed deaths.
But on Wednesday, the state revealed the number of deaths was actually 15,049 residents in elder care facilities (nursing homes and assisted living/adult care facilities), according to a letter from the State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker sent to Senate Democrats
Meanwhile, Cuomo is expected to travel to Washington, D.C., on Friday in the midst of the scandal in his first visit to the White House since President Biden took office to discuss the federal American Rescue Plan for dealing with the coronavirus.

                      Really?

Which part of Canada's Covid Strategy would you like me to focus on?

                      1. Vaccine roll out failure?

                      2. Lockdowns?

                      3. Travel Restrictions?

Here's your liberal hero. You know it's bad when CNN turns on you.

The story keeps getting worse for Andrew Cuomo on Covid-19

(CNN)Amid the swirling controversy over whether New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's administration knowingly undercounted deaths among nursing home residents during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state, a top aide for the governor apologized to Democratic lawmakers, saying the administration "froze" when initially asked by state legislators back in August about the issue.

Which is a stunning admission. And seems to jibe with a report released last month by New York Attorney General Letitia James that suggested that Cuomo's administration undercounted deaths among nursing home residents by as much as 50%.
"Preliminary data obtained by [the Office of the Attorney general] suggests that many nursing home residents died from Covid-19 in hospitals after being transferred from their nursing homes, which is not reflected in [the Department of Heath's] published total nursing home death data," read the summary of the report.
The aide, Melissa DeRosa, sought to clarify her remarks. "I was explaining that when we received the DOJ inquiry, we needed to temporarily set aside the Legislature's request to deal with the federal request first," she said in a statement provided to CNN. "We informed the houses of this at the time. We were comprehensive and transparent in our responses to the DOJ, and then had to immediately focus our resources on the second wave and vaccine rollout. As I said on a call with legislators, we could not fulfill their request as quickly as anyone would have liked."

What DeRosa is arguing is that the Cuomo administration essentially put requests from the New York state legislature for more details on nursing home deaths on hold while they dealt with requests for similar information from the Department of Justice.
But that's not what she told Democratic lawmakers in New York on a virtual conference call on Wednesday. As CNN has reported of that conversation:

According to a source who participated in the call, "DeRosa said the administration essentially 'froze' because it wasn't sure what information it was going to turn over to the DOJ, and didn't want whatever was told the lawmakers in response to the state joint committee hearing inquiries to be used against it in any way."
And that is a very different animal. Because the latter explanation suggests that the reason the Cuomo administration didn't release the full details of deaths in nursing homes to state legislators is because they were concerned about how that data might be used against them, politically speaking, if it fell into the hands of the Trump administration.
Which is a very bad look -- to say the least.
This is only the latest bit of evidence that suggests the Cuomo administration may not have dealt as effectively with the coronavirus pandemic as was initially believed.
Cuomo's actions related to nursing homes have been under considerable scrutiny since May, when reports suggested that his Department of Health had blocked nursing homes from rejecting residents based solely on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis. Cuomo rejected that report, insisting he had followed federal guidance on that front. "New York followed the President's agency's guidance, so that de-politicizes it," Cuomo said at the time. "What New York did was follow what the Republican administration said to do." (Cuomo announced a new policy on May 10, saying a hospital cannot discharge a person who is Covid positive to a nursing home.)

DeRosa's comments will supercharge an already combustible situation for Cuomo as he prepares to run for reelection in 2022. In the aftermath of the report, several prominent Republicans called on Cuomo to resign.

While that won't happen, there's no question that the nursing home story just got worse for Cuomo. And that it now threatens what once looked like a cakewalk to a history-making fourth term next November.

                            The process was already setup.
                            Distribution was setup.
                            Guidelines were in place.
The vaccines were rolled out faster than any other that I can remember.
The process was in the works.
                            Biden didn't 'build that'
And the percentage is 10% by all other sources.

Canada negotiates accelerated delivery schedule for Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine

GATINEAU, QC, Feb. 12, 2021 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada continues to work to ensure that Canadians have access to safe, effective COVID-19 vaccines as soon as possible. Successful efforts to expedite this access demonstrate Canada's commitment to ensure more people in Canada have access to vaccines even sooner.

Today, the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, announced that Canada has negotiated an accelerated delivery schedule for Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine, and will receive all 40 million of its secured doses from Pfizer-BioNTech by the end of September.

This means that Canada will receive 2.8 million additional doses of Pfizer between April and June and an additional 6.2 million doses between July and September than was originally scheduled.

The Government of Canada has also purchased an additional 4 million doses of the Moderna vaccine, bringing the total number of secured doses to 44 million. The additional 4 million doses are expected to arrive by the end of September.

Canada is now expected to receive 84-million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines by the end of September.

This means more people in Canada will be vaccinated sooner and also further protects Canada's against supply chain disruptions so that we can provide a vaccine to everyone in Canada for whom these authorized COVID-19 vaccines are recommended by the end of September 2021.

"Our government continues to put every effort forward to protect Canadians from COVID-19. This includes taking all necessary measures to accelerate deliveries of vaccines to Canada from approved suppliers. We remain fully on track to ensure that every eligible Canadian who wishes to be vaccinated will be able to do so by the end of September.

... the major vaccine manufacturers have found new ways to resolve their supply chain challenges and are increasing production to supply around the world.
