I read an article the other day that blacks are the least likely to get the vaccine because they're scared of it. I surmise that's likely due to democrat fearmongering by telling folks that Trump rushed the vaccine.

You really thought that Trump had control over the vaccine makers. You MUST feel foolish that you listened to Biden. Must.

There have also been social media post every now and again saying that certain beverages and vaccines were genetically keyed to cause sterility in black males. The only thing that I know of that is primarily a problem for blacks is sickle cell anemia. On the other hand, there has been research that tends to indicate that those with sickle cell also are less prone to malaria.

GAO report slams Trump administration response to the coronavirus pandemic

Almost 90% — 27 of 31 — of the GAO’s suggestions from June, September and November “remained unimplemented” as of Jan. 15, lower than per week earlier than Trump left workplace. The doc was launched final week.

“GAO remains deeply troubled that agencies have not acted on recommendations to more fully address critical gaps in the medical supply chain,” it stated.

The medical provide chain covers a wide range of actions and supplies associated to the pandemic, together with coronavirus testing, vaccines, therapeutics and private protecting tools. Even {dollars} have provide chain points.

The report targeted largely on the Department of Health and Human Services, which leads the authorities’s response. But the GAO’s complete overview included covid program integrity points involving overpayments value $1.1 billion in the Department of Labor’s Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program and three,000 Small Business Administration loans to probably ineligible firms.

The provide chain of cash additionally has knots. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act offered $300 million to the Commerce Department in March for help to the fishery business, which has taken a monetary hit as a result of the pandemic closed eating places. As of Dec. 4, solely $53.9 million, about 18 p.c, in accordance to the GAO, “had been disbursed, which is inconsistent with Office of Management and Budget guidance on the importance of agencies distributing CARES Act funds in an expedient manner.”

After the Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed success in selling speedy improvement of coronavirus vaccines — the one vivid spot in its covid response — it failed to totally observe the GAO’s implementation suggestions. Now we endure a rocky inoculation rollout, with its jammed web sites, clogged cellphone traces and canceled appointments.

“In September 2020, GAO stressed the importance of having a plan that focused on coordination and communication and recommended that HHS, with the support of the Department of Defense, establish a time frame for documenting and sharing a national plan for distributing and administering COVID-19 vaccine, and among other things, outline an approach for how efforts would be coordinated across federal agencies and non federal entities,” the GAO stated. “To date, this recommendation has not been fully implemented. GAO reiterates the importance of doing so.”

The report particulars a bungled Trump administration response to a virus that has killed over 445,000 Americans, excess of in some other nation. Former HHS Secretary Alex Azar and a spokesperson for Trump didn’t reply to requests for remark. Neither did present HHS officers.

Rep. Gerald E. Connolly (D-Va.) did. The House Oversight and Reform Committee, the place he chairs the authorities operations subcommittee, was one in every of the congressional panels that obtained the GAO report. “This independent report is a stunning indictment of the Trump administration’s total failure to respond to the coronavirus pandemic,” Connolly stated. “Their inaction resulted in lives lost.”

Regarding troubles with the authorities’s response to covid below Trump, the GAO stated:

●HHS “has not issued a comprehensive and publicly available national testing strategy.”

●HHS has not developed a provide chain technique with states and the non-public sector for offering provides throughout a pandemic.

●The federal authorities can not “systematically define and ensure the collection of standardized data across the relevant federal agencies . . . to help respond to COVID-19, communicate the status of the pandemic with citizens, or prepare for future pandemics. As a result, COVID-19 information that is collected and reported by states and other entities to the federal government is often incomplete and inconsistent.”

HHS did agree to take steps towards a nationwide coronavirus testing technique, the GAO reported, however division officers “expressed concern that producing such a strategy . . . could be overly burdensome” on federal, state and native officers “and that a plan would be outdated by the time it was finalized.” The GAO rejected these excuses.

The GAO’s conclusions will not be faultfinding after the reality. In February 2020, earlier than issues bought unhealthy, “we emphasized the need for federal agencies to coordinate, establish, and define roles and responsibilities among those responding to the crisis, and provide clear, consistent communication,” the report stated.

The backside line of the report is, “urgent action is needed and required” to combat covid-19, A. Nicole Clowers, the GAO’s managing director for well being care, stated by cellphone. “We’ve been examining these issues for almost nine months now, and we’ve seen the lack of progress that’s been made.”

She acknowledged the report accommodates “strong language for GAO,” including: “We’re trying to spur that action that we believe is needed.”

That’s up to Biden, whose severe method to covid-19 is a pointy distinction to Trump’s.

“The Biden administration is now forced to simultaneously clean up Trump’s mess it inherited,” Connolly stated, “while also responding to the greatest public health pandemic in a hundred years.”

... in a call on Feb 01 2021 between Prime Minister Trudeau and US VP Kamala Harris

"The Prime Minister looked forward to working with the U.S. administration on shared priorities, including fighting the COVID-19 pandemic through close collaboration on borders and access to vaccines," the PMO said in the statement.

The source said the pair discussed the "interconnected" nature of the two countries' medical systems with shared supply chains, as well as the Canadian doctors and nurses who cross the border in Michigan to work in U.S. hospitals every day.

Prime Minister Trudeau also offered to share Canada's COVID-19 Alert app with the U.S., and Harris expressed interest in the idea and wanted to follow up, the source said.

The source said the call was less about Trudeau trying to deliver a message and was more about discussing the areas where Canada and the U.S. can work together on a wide range of issues.

Sounds like Canada wants to give us an app in exchange for our vaccine.
