Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
Business rec'd a 40,000.00 no interest loan repayable in 2022 plus a $10,000.00 grant. Again, very popular.
Today those Canadians who remain unemployed receive what is called an enhanced Unemployment benefit cheque. They have to prove bi-weekly that they still qualify for this benefit while actively looking for a job.
Canada's economy actually improved in Dec and out paced the USA.
Friday’s report shows unexpected resilience, mostly from a jump in resource production, even in the face of measures taken to contain a second wave of COVID-19. Growth in the fourth-quarter came in at about 8 per cent annualized, according to Bloomberg calculations, well above the 4.8 per cent pace projected by the Bank of Canada.

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
Let me tell you what arrogant is, brother. Arrogant is Joe Biden looking the American people in the eye and lying to them by saying Trump left him nothing in terms of a rollout plan.
How is it Trump had no plan but the USA is kicking Canada's ass with our rollout? In fact, the USA is right near the top.
Do you ever stop and actually think about the lies that are being told by Biden and the democrats?
You seem to believe that just because I think trump is a despicable, disgusting, horrible, contemptible, loathsome, excuse for a human being, that I somehow love biden.
It's great that the US is doing well.Comment

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
I've had a few people stop by our office wanting me to sign a piece of paper saying that they inquired about employment. They weren't really looking for a job. It was a requirement so they could continue to get food stamps or some other government assistance. I politely declined their request.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Masks must be worn at train and subway stations, bus terminals and airports nationwide, as well as on planes, trains and other types of public transportation in the United States, according to a far-reaching federal public health order issued late Friday.
The order, which will take effect Monday at 11:59 p.m., adds details to the mandate President Biden signed on his first full day in officeComment

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
The Biden administration has issued a mask mandate, requiring individuals to wear masks on federal property, and he's encouraging all Americans to wear them in public for 100 days. Face coverings are also required on planes, trains, buses and at airports, renewing questions about which kinds of masks provide the best protection against COVID-19, as well as where to find them.
The goal of the "100 Days Masking Challenge" is to curb the rapid spread of the coronavirus, which has already claimed the lives of more than 400,000 Americans. Indeed, a study published on January 19 in the Lancet Digital Health journal Studies found that increasing mask-wearing across the U.S. by just 10% would significantly curb the transmission of the coronavirus.
Mask-wearing is even more effective when the face coverings fit properly and efficiently filter aerosol particles, according to medical experts.Comment

I need to get my ears checked because I could have sworn that on his first day in office that Biden said there's nothing he could do to change the trajectory of covid in 90 days.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
I think 2 things are greatly affecting the outcomes for Covid in the USA.
1. The USA is the most obese country in the world.
Adults with excess weight are at even greater risk during the COVID-19 pandemic:
- Having obesity increases the risk of severe illness from COVID-19. People who are overweight may also be at increased risk.
- Having obesity may triple the risk of hospitalization due to a COVID-19 infection.
- Obesity is linked to impaired immune function.2,3
- Obesity decreases lung capacity and reserve and can make ventilation more difficult.4
- As BMI increases, the risk of death from COVID-19 increases.5
- Studies have demonstrated that obesity may be linked to lower vaccine responses for numerous diseases (influenza6, Hepatitis B7,8,9, tetanus10).
Hispanic and non-Hispanic Black adults have a higher prevalence of obesity and are more likely to suffer worse outcomes from COVID-19. Racial and ethnic minority groups have historically not had broad opportunities for economic, physical, and emotional health, and these inequities have increased the risk of getting sick and dying from COVID-19 for some groups. Many of these same factors are contributing to the higher level of obesity in some racial and ethnic minority groups.
2. Illegal Immigration. It's no secret that illegal immigrants are super-spreaders.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
A Georgia city is replacing a Confederate monument with a statue of civil rights hero John Lewis
For 112 years, a 30-foot obelisk stood outside the courthouse grounds in the suburban Atlanta city of Decatur.
Erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, it suggested the Civil War was about state's rights and "Southern honor" instead of the real root cause: slavery.
That structure was finally taken down last year. And in its place, officials now plan to erect a monument that honors the late John Lewis, a man who spent his entire life fighting for civil rights.Comment

Which Covid Vaccine Should You Get? Experts Cite the Effect Against Severe Disease
Infectious disease doctors say getting a shot of the J&J vaccine, which has a lower efficacy against the virus than other vaccines, would still be well worthwhile.
