The majority of private health insurance companies have stopped waiving patients' fees associated with treatment for COVID-19 as most had done since the early days of the pandemic, a new study has found.

According to an analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), 72% of U.S. insurers who previously waived cost-sharing or entirely covered treatment costs has quit doing so and another 10% will be phasing out such waivers by the end of October.

In a previous study done in the earlier days of the pandemic, KFF found that 88% of fully insured COVID-19 patients would have had all of their hospitalizations costs waived by their insurer. The group noted that insurance companies were enjoying higher profits during periods of lockdown and uncertainty, as many people put check-ups and elective procedures on hold.

A conservative Florida radio host who spoke out against Covid-19 vaccines died after a weekslong fight with the virus, marking the third radio personality to die from coronavirus who publicly rejected vaccines.

The death of Marc Bernier, 65, who was a mainstay on talk radio in Daytona, was announced Saturday night be WNDB, the radio station he was affiliated with for three decades.

COVID-19 vaccine manufacturer AstraZeneca is requiring all of its U.S. employees to get vaccinated against the coronavirus if they plan on returning to the workplace or need to interact with customers.

"At AstraZeneca, we are driven by science and every day we push the boundaries to deliver life-changing medicines. To safeguard the health and wellbeing of our employees and communities, we must follow the science and as part of our return to workplace approach, we will require all US-based AstraZeneca and Alexion employees who are onsite or visiting our customers to be vaccinated against COVID-19," a spokesperson for the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company said in a statement to The Hill on Monday.

"We will provide accommodations for those unable to be vaccinated due to medical, religious or other restrictions," they added. "We continue to work diligently to ensure the health and safety of our employees and have in place at our sites a number of safety measures and guidelines, including providing access to personal protective equipment and COVID-19 testing."

More Florida school districts appear poised to impose their own mask requirements after a Florida judge’s ruling Friday struck down the state’s prohibition on school mask mandates, with at least four school districts meeting this week to consider the issue as Covid-19 cases continue to rise among students in the state.
