He's got many more reasons to feel like a fool. He has completely bought into the right wing narrative. I don't see anyone saying the omicron variant is more dangerous. I have heard, as everyone else has, that it is more transmissible. But that's about it.

MSDH issues updated guidance on omicron, COVID-19 treatments
The Mississippi State Department of Health issued updated guidance as the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations rapidly increase.
MSDH reported 3,594 new COVID-19 cases and 19 additional deaths on Wednesday. The increase is in part attributed to the omicron variant, which health officials said is significantly more infectious than the delta variant. Byers said in the past seven days, Mississippi has reported more than 10,000 COVID-19 cases, which is double the number of cases from the previous seven-day period.

The world junior men's hockey championship in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alta., was cancelled Wednesday in the face of lost games due to COVID-19.
A third forfeited game in two days left the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), Hockey Canada and organizing committee with few options on how to continue a tournament with competitive integrity, and they opted to call off the 11-day, 10-country event in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alta.
"Following a recommendation by the tournament COVID-19 Medical Group and the IIHF Medical Committee, the IIHF Council has decided that, due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship will be cancelled to ensure the health and safety of all participants," the IIHF said Wednesday in a statement.
The tournament opened Sunday, but players testing positive for COVID-19 had put defending champion United States, Russia and Czechia into mandatory quarantines by Wednesday.
Teams arrived in Alberta on Dec. 15, quarantined for two days and were tested before they were allowed to skate.

NEWS MISSISSIPPI CORONAVIRUS OMICRON DELTA VARIANT
After 63 outbreaks were reported in Mississippi nursing homes Monday, twice the number reported the week prior, state health officials said in a Wednesday press conference it seems likely the state is headed into a fifth wave of COVID cases and hospitalizations.
A total of 8,344 cases were reported in the state last week, an 80 percent jump from the week prior, largely due to the spreading of the Omicron variant, according to state epidemiologist Dr. Paul Byers.
"We really are in the fifth wave now of COVID for Mississippi," Byers said during the news conference.
Mississippi State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs said those who test positive should follow the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and isolate for at least five days followed by strict mask-wearing around others.Comment

Maybe this is why they dropped the quarantine period for asymptomatic carriers down from 10 to 5 days. They need them to infect more people to get the true counts back up.
